    Hi everybody,
Got everything immaculate to put the zx back on the road, just have a question regarding the airbag steering wheel.

Mine was stolen a while back so I just have a nismo aftermarket wheel.

Will that be an issue not having the airbag if I'm goin thru a blue slip? I don't want the mechanic to know it had 1 as they are bloody hard to get hold of!!!!! Lol

    Thanks, Ian

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

It will not pass if they know it had one that was removed. If they don't, you're all good so long as the wheel is padded in the center :)

    What year is your Z?
If they weren't fitted to Aussie cars in that year you won't need one.

It's a 1994 aus spec series 3, and came fitted with an airbag wheel as far as I know

Briefly from one of the tech papers:
Vehicles are legally required to comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADRs)
    throughout their life.
Altering an airbag or steering wheel might affect a vehicle?s compliance with the
ADRs applicable to occupant impact protection.
ADR 10/.. Steering Column applies to cars made since 1 January 1971 and to vans, utilities and four wheel drives since 1 July 1990.
This ADR was introduced to minimise injury to the driver caused by the steering
column during a frontal impact to the vehicle.
ADR 69/.. Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection applies to new model passenger cars made on or after 1 July 1995 and to all passenger cars made on or after 1 January 1996. It also applies to all new model forward control passenger vehicles (people movers), four wheel drives and light goods vehicles (utilities and vans) made on or after 1 January 1998 and to all forward control passenger vehicles (people movers), four wheel drives and light goods vehicles (utilities and vans) made on or after 1 July 2000. This ADR
specifies the crashworthiness of a vehicle in a full frontal impact.
ADR 73/.. Offset Frontal Impact Occupant Protection applies to new model passenger cars made on or after 1 January 2000 and to all passenger cars made on or after 1 January 2004. This ADR specifies the crashworthiness of a vehicle in an offset frontal impact.

Thanks East Coast Z. Seems like I should be fine then as mine is 1994, and the compliance was 1995 forward.

    try

you could try puting a series 1 standard steering wheel on and say that is what was on it. Worst they can do is say no go ;)

I would say unless they are a 300zx guru or checks the vin , they would probably never know it has an airbag . Just replace with a stock non airbag wheel . Dont use a sports wheel just in case .

The drivers sun visor has information concerning the SRS (Airbag system), it may be written Japanese, however "SRS" is clearly visible.

    AndyMac Better than you

One of the main differences between pink and blue slip is the matching of VIN and Engine Numbers to the RTA data base...so they will be checking the VIN ;)

Yep, change the sunvisor, or get a S15/R34 GTR steering wheel ;)

Well if they can get the year of manufacture off the VIN they are doing well :p
