I thought I would throw this up for reference if anyone is searching in the future for cost of a rebuild .
This is OEM parts from CZP and machining by LW Parry Engineering in Arncliffe .
Parry have been around for a long time and I have freinds that had rebuilds done there .

This off course is machining and parts only . Freight charges not included .

    Heads :
Crack and Pressure test x2 heads- $130
    Head service valves/machining x2 heads- $1100
    Head bolts- $75
    TOTAL $1305

    Block:
    Hone- $110
    Big end bearings- $64
    Rod bearings- $32
    Gasket set- $278
    Ring set- $174
    TOTAL $658

    Optional :
    Rebore- $220
    OEM Piston set- $404

    Forged rebuild kit- $1440

    Head bolts- $75
Does that include the head studs too.?

    Big end bearings- $64
Does that include the mains or just the big ends ? ( conrods)

OEM is headbolts going straight into the block, headstuds is aftermarket ARP.

Lw Parry has been around for years and do good work have used them before.

Give them a call , helpfull pleasant people to talk too .

I just gave figures for people with a little know how and will do the rebuild themselves . So 2k sounds cheap but you will have to do a little elbow grease .

The heads also quoted on with cams and lifters removed .

There are people on this forum that have never put together an engine and have succesfully done it .

Big ends refering to journals of crankshaft (maybe worded wrond sorry) . Rod bearings are for conrods :)

The above costs are for do it yourself with an engine that has no major damage . Just a freshen up .

If you have a spun bearing thats more work . Would probably need crank repair and new rod which is costly .

Dont forget it can cost anywhere from $500 - $1000 to pull and reinstall engine .

Then there is cost for labour to strip engine down and re assemble .

$5k is pretty good price for full rebuild (if thats what they quoted) and roll in and roll out .

Narh they wanted me to pull her out and strip noncritical parts ... so the wanted basicly a bare block with head attached before they would start

In that case if your crank and or conrod is damaged get them second hand .

Plenty of people on here have spares laying around .

And then you can do the above :)
