anyone either have a compression tester that is worthy or know of somewhere decent i can take it to either in bris or gold coast who knows a zed.

pm has been sent to eric awaiting reply from him as to when best suits him to check it out but if i can have it tested sooner rather than later is much prefered, cause if it's not a rebuild and just a injector it would be nice to attend the cruise

looks like you found your problem, anything under 100 is hard to get to ignite.

Cyl 3 wasn't firing properly and it read 150.

Morning all :) I am a little confussed consult said # 3 was down 20rpm when it was stopped but compression test figures showed that #3 was at 150 (which is fine right) ? but compression was down on #4 80/90

I am still having the same problem as mentioned in my first post, i am pulling the cats off today to suss out what they are looking like other than that i don't know what else i should be checking

first up what is your firing order as you count, as far as I know it starts number 1 on drivers side at the front (for us RHD cars) number 2 is on lhs then number 3 middle RHS 4 and so it goes.

If I am wrong please someone let me know

Sweet that confirms what I believed as well for firing order. As for your problem, how much did the other cylinders drop in RPM when you did the power balance test. we know that cylinder 3 dropped ~ 20rpm yes and if cylinder 4 is producing little or no power it should not have dropped at all but what about all the others. From what I remember (my consult cable is not running now so I can not verify) my power balance test tended to drop ~ 100 rpm to 150 rpm. Hopefully someone can clarify what the rev drop is on a good cylinder. I suppose I could manually check this however.

i have taken the cats off and taken it for 2 drives and there was always power there nothing like i described in my first post but for a brief second it was a bit slugish around the 2500rpm once .

it appears to me the cat was stuffed but do you guys think by going off my compression test and consult i should be looking into it more than replacing the cats ?

i have heard others say that really bad/blocked cat converters can cause a major loss of power so definately worth looking into. as for actual replacement i would suggest deciding on what you intend to do about the engine before replacing the cats.

with the cats on i had the problem cut in and out now cats r off yes it runs rougher than normal but it doesnt see to be having the same problem.

if i replace the cats and it stops having that particular issue i will be happy and will sort the engine when i have the $ to do so but right now cheapest option is preffered
