Open apology to rojoloco

Dear rojoloco,
On behalf of right-thinking well-mannered Australians (some of us also own 300zx's) I wish to apologise for the outrageous comments and xenophobic attitudes of some aus300zx members. Here you have seen classic examples of the foul-mouthed ignorance and sick nationalism which pervades our society.
Don't get me wrong, by far the majority of aus300zx members are great people with many displaying a generosity of spirit, sharing, and warmth you do not usually find in mainstream society.
However, what hope have we got when some fool moderator comes along and thinks he is clever censoring your post and locking it. Again, just an ignoramus appealing to the ignorant. The bar here is set pretty low.
Your photographs portray a valid issue and, I guess more to the point, the impotence of the small inventor/innovator in protecting their intellectual property.
What these aus300zx cretins fail to realise is that the aftermarket parts industry relies almost exclusively on small innovators and their ability to recover development costs.
Without them we would not enjoy such a great range of products. Opportunist copiers may benefit in the short term but we all lose in the long term.

No appologies are necessary in my opinion.
The membership at large has spoken and I'm sure they don't need (or asked) someone else to make excuses for them.
The motivation and reasons behind his attempt to slander AMS has been clearly revealed.
If his motives were true and honest he would also target with the same vigor and aggressiveness companies like CZP or Z1 who are also some of the dis-favored vendors amongst his tt.net companions who have also produced products that could be construed as copies. For some inexpicable reason that has never happend. Is it because those other companies are also American and AMS is not. Who knows, but it does beg to ask that question.
The SPL V.1 FUCA's had failures (and subsequently removed from sales) and the Selin Translator has had numerous failures as well yet these vendors are not attacked with similar intensity. In fact they're not even frowned upon. Seems a bit lopsided to me.

There is focus and there is purpose to his agressivenes and it's not of a friendly nature.

Should a company be found at fault for exploiting that.
Is it the responsibility or obligation of forum members to fight those intellectual battles.
Why aren't the owners of that property in the thick of things (like Rojoloco) defending and or trying to protect that property. They have remained silent for the most part. If it was of such great concern for the main ones affected by this (innovators/inventors/makers), why aren't they standing up for their property.
I'm afraid that a small dose of real world economics is needed here.

Zippidy, we are a passive forum and do not wish to buy into a political, vengeful and childish 'he hit me first' ruckus. That is why threads such as this get locked, even a fool such as me can see this!

You all need to leave it out of here, keep it on your own turf and let us get on with the important matters, such as whether it is too cool to cruise with the targas off and such.

You're just upset that not everybody is corrupt yet.

Because they are a piece of crap company who hasn't spent a dime in R&D, steals the ideas of others, counterfeits parts at a much lower quality, marks up their prices by 400%-700% of the production cost, injects them into the community, and pretends to be one of the enthusiasts. They have successfully prevented vendors from releasing innovative parts yet cannot release them themselves because they don't understand the first concept of R&D because it has never been done. They are a virus in the community and they are spreading throughout the community. They feast on the greed of others while lining their pockets with blood money. Yes, I am truly appalled by their actions and, as a true enthusiast, have taken it upon myself to ensure every last person out there knows what they have done. If that person chooses to embrace AMS afterwards, they have to live with their own conscience or lack thereof. AMS is a disgrace!

When you have no logical argument, you like to resort to illogical redirection tactics. Nobody said anything about what country we live in. The fact that you would even bring this up makes me wonder. I have said many times that CZP is the American AMS and I tell people this all the time as well. The fact that you have seen me say this many times in the past should only further tell people that you cannot be trusted because you choose to only disclose facts that might discredit someone yet you do not tell the whole story. You know you do not have a logical case since the pictures speak for themselves. Your actions resemble a dog tucking his tail and lashing out for whatever he can grab. Why not stay logical and composed? It makes things much easier. I guess you just have to practice your lying a bit more because you suck at it.

That's because his arms were not really his arms to begin with. I have covered this topic on multiple occasions. The parts were not meant for the Z32 but could be forced to work in a time when there were no other options. Either way, notice they are no longer for sale.

I haven't really heard of anything negative about the Selin translator to be honest. Either way, failures happen. What should not happen is failure after failure after failure on a part that was never tested nor properly designed. Why should this never be the case? It's because such a part should never have been released in the first place. However, since R&D is not a part of the AMS model of business, they just skip that part and line their pockets off suckers and fellow thieves who are in it for a quick buck.

To be honest, most people don't hate AMS because of their failures. We just sort of expect them to happen and point them out when they do because it is only a matter of time. We hate them because of everything they stand for and how they don't care who they hurt or deceive.

You know how the saying goes: Do not answer a fool according to his folly or you will be like him yourself. For you, I make an exception.

Opposed to the friendly nature of AMS putting out $70 for a product and then selling it to unsuspecting customers for $500? Yep, that's a real friend right there.

Yes! A true enthusiast would never exploit a potential soft spot in order to victimize another fellow enthusiast. It just goes to show that AMS is not a fellow enthusiast. They are a business and only a business. They will exploit whatever makes them a quick buck and will shut down every other business if that's what it takes to make their money up front. I hope they have a strong savings account because they will go out of business as soon as they no longer have any new parts to copy.

It is the responsibility of the enthusiast to shut them out. It is the people who stand up for their country just as it is the people who stand up for their community. This isn't a battle between businesses. This is a battle for the longevity of our enthusiasm.

Because they are spending their time trying to better the community instead of hiring trolls to send them new parts to copy. Take your point and live it by shutting up before you look like an even bigger buffoon. How can you tell someone they have no fight yet you are right there defending the scum of the community as if you get paid to do it?

As a member of not only the 300ZX forum but on several other non ZX car forums aswell I see on a daily basis that there are tens of thousands of members that are of a good nature and I also see the nasty members aswell..... perhaps a trip back through the Forum Discussion section here may remind you that we arent all loving and huggy members here and that there are more than a few ratbags both past & present.....

Had you of bothered to read the thread you'd be aware of the past history of this topic........ not this shyte again rings a bell for many and the mod did what was not only asked but needed to stop the ongoing B/S of the topic which you have brought up undescriminately yet again....

yep they are nice photos......
but they like every other attempt to make people change their way of shopping they fail completely to give any credible evidence other than a visual comparision.
I, like many others here have NOT seen a single detailed comparision between product 'A' and product 'B'..... wheres the micrometer measurements, wheres the dyno sheets, wheres a single shread of evidence that any of these products are in fact stolen coppies ..... all we have is pictures of similar looking aftermarket parts.

I fail completely to see HOW we all lose in the long term........

Sadly its the old style of thump the message home attitude that we are seeing, the subject is old and tired and has been belted about on other forums before rearing its ugly head here yet again..... the revival is in town and a few will be converted for now..... and it will come back around next year for those that missed this performance.

Is more than a visual comparison really required on some of them? For instance, the BDE plugs and BDE motor mounts are very original products. AMS now carries their own brand of said products that look exactly the same. Outside of craftsmanship, there is not a single difference. Only one who wants to ignore the facts could possibly need more evidence for these particular products. Once the door of acceptance has been opened for 2 products, it becomes much easier to accept it on the other products as well.

Since there will always be skeptics and those desiring more detailed evidence, Brett Dempsey actually did compare specs from the AMS copies to that of his original product. That product review, with detailed measurements, can be found HERE.

Just remember, ignorance can only be claimed before the truth is revealed. After that, it just becomes stupidity. The choice is yours.

Do you desire to see new parts for our cars? I know I love to see how quickly new products are innovated and released. Being that AMS doesn't have the first clue how to innovate a product, they rely on the releases of others to come out first so they can have it poorly copied in China. Several vendors have already put products on hold (and some cancelled) because they knew they would not recover from R&D costs before AMS would step in to undercut them. When original parts stop, I hope you are happy with the existing product base that AMS offers because nothing new will be entering their lineup. In the end, we all lose.

 

I can understand your frustrations here over this topic. This horse has long since been dead and beaten into a stain on the floor. However, the business poor ethics and duplication of parts on AMS' behalf are a continuing problem.

Besides the photos, the timeline(s) is/are always the same. Small time parts maker/Z32 enthusiast creates new parts or develops a product similar to that in the market... a few months later AMS is selling a cheaper quality duplicate of that product while undercutting the price.

There is a good product review/comparison between the BDE motor mounts and the AMS motor mounts on 3ZC. Unfortunately, the site is currently down, otherwise I would post a link for you all here.

Another comparison showing that AMS ripped off a vendor is one you all should be familiar with, the PEX pulley. Besides the material used and the Swiss cheese styling, the AMS pulley is the same design complete with the same spacing flaw the PEX pulley had.

As you can see in the thread and this pictures, the silver pulley that Bernie helped created and gave to an American company to produce for the community and various vendors is the same pulley that AMS copied for their version 2.




Lastly, I too am fouled mouth and can be considered rude, however, that doesn't give me an excuse to buy knock off parts or defend the companies who mass produce this cheap copies. Besides American companies, AMS is ripping off British companies (Driftworks) and companies in your own country (UAS & PEX). At this point if you can't see how AMS is ripping off the small time parts makers and companies, you're turning a blind eye or you're slow in the head.

 

I work long and hard for my money, it seems to me that I can spend it as I please.

With that said, I have never bought anything from AMS - but that isn't saying that I won't. As a consumer I'm pretty damned sure I know my rights here in Australia!

 

You have a right to spend your money on prostitutes in some countries. Heck, you can even buy drugs if you want in other places. However, just because you can, that doesn't mean you should nor does it make it ethical and justified.

I'm not saying any one here is not a hard worker, or that they are not entitled to spend it how you want. Besides, I'm sure there are several members here who already have to put up with that crap from our girlfriends and wives! I do.

I go to at least one of the national Z events throughout the US every year. These are the same events that the same small businesses that make these parts go to as well. For me, I wouldn't feel right drinking beers and hanging out with them if I were to buy the knock off parts created from their hard work. I don't buy AMS due to that personal reason and the fact that I feel it's ethically wrong; especially since I know the people. Again, it's your right to buy the parts you want from who you want, but if you're not just buying parts because of the price trying looking into the original quality parts.

 

Kind of like posting up peoples details in a "rat list" and indirectly accusing them of being immoral and not trustworthy etc

 

I didn't create the list nor did I add any input to the list. I think it is a beneficial list (when accurate) but I can also see how quite a few people got injured in the process. I probably would have been slightly different in my approach had it been mine. Either way, the wrongs of one do not wipe clean the slate of another.
