With the recent thread (on 3ZC) about the AMS tie rods failing after only 7k miles as well as the recent GB on the IC piping, I thought I would revisit this topic. I made these a while ago but I never posted them on here. I just thought I would finally get around to putting them up. I'll leave all comments of my own out and let the pictures speak for themselves.

It's actually still a very important topic. Here, in the US, we have been fairly proactive in our attempts to enlighten people. I'm convinced it will never stop but I can still do my part. That is why I chose to leave all comments out of it and to only post up the evidence. People can make up their own mind at that point. There are tons of threads about AMS on the various forums but there aren't too many concise threads where every image is compiled into one handy .pdf. That was my reasoning.

I would be wrong to check it at the door. AMS is still producing parts and advertising them to be sold. There are always new enthusiasts joining who don't understand the history. As long as AMS has the right to give themselves publicity, I have the right to refute it with evidence. If only one person turns away, it was worth my time. For the rest, they will do as they will.

I just posted pictures so technically there is nothing slandrous about it. A person can make up their own mind. However, the evidence is there and, since there are quite a few people on here who think AMS is a viable option, I'd say a refresher is in order. Gather from the pics what you will.

In the end, if you aren't a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. Pick a side and run with it.

Coming into this topic without prior knowledge of the dealings of AMS, this seems like a more serious matter? Or have we decided that copied products are uniformly accepted here.

I'm not taking this at face value but I'm curious as to why people are trying to shut this topic down so quickly.

 

To be fair, it is a topic that has run the gammut. It always has controversy and oftentimes leads to locked posts or banned members depending on the forum. Some people are just sick of seeing it, others don't want the "drama" associated with it, and others are actual supporters of the company who hate the negative publicity.

That being said, as long as it is acceptable to post praises for a company that does the obvious, it should be acceptable to point out the negative side as well. I just chose to do so with a compilation of pictures I made and left my 2 cents out of it.

I've seen some of that proactiveness, when I was dragged into it, pretty much totally unaware of this proactiveness not too long ago. It is far from 'pretty/honorable'. I do not condone AMS's business practices, but some of the crap I've seen the Anti-AMS crowd do, range from childish to ridiculously abusive. Wouldn't be surprised if even more shady things went on in the background. Frankly for that last bit alone, I refuse to associate with them. Don't give a damn how 'noble' their 'crusade' is.

I agree, hence asking Mods to lock the thread. Similar to posting a provocative video on YouTube and disabling comments, as a precaution. The viewer takes the information on board, and if interested in knowing more, Google is there.

Ultimately the market place and consumers make the decision as to what product suits their needs and falls within their affordability whether the manafacturer is the "original" developer and supplier or not.....

Every day we are confronted with 'coppied' products and at every level and pricing ..... from made in China to a small 'original' backyard manafacturers all struggling to make a living from the market place.




Seriously..... what would you do if a chinese company was to emerge and start flogging all the "listed' performance parts for a significant price reduction ?
The markets reaction would be to grab em while their hot regardless of the pathetic sooky lala cries from the patrotic supporters of the original maker.


Obviously the fact that company 'A' and company 'B' are still trading and neither has managed to be killed off shows that the market place is more than willing to allow some competition and has encouraged it over time & suggests that loyality is well and truely over-rated.

i copied winfactory bonnet strut kits and still sold over 70 sets within 3 weeks most people dont give a shit about if its been copied they look at the final dollar if they can get all there shit from the one place instead of having to hunt around for all the gear they need they will probably buy from AMS.

Cause they sure as shit aint the same item. There are visual differences between the pair that says they are NOT the same.

If the MS ones are better quality then surely AMS have just picked a market/price point to sell to and are selling a lesser product to people who wouldnt have bought the MS manifolds at the price they where originally sold at. ( which was bloody ridiculous for what they where)

It took AMS's competition to drive the MS manifold price to the point where it was viable for a LOT of people.

If the MS manifolds are clearly better quality the WHY would they drop the price to compete with what has been said is a substandard product.

Some people really need to examine their target markets and price points before getting their noses put out of joint.

BMW and GM both sell cars that do the same thing but people still buy BMW because of a perception/reality of better quality. MS would have been better served by using that and marketing the goods to people who appreciate the quality of what he is making.

IMO these 2 products are NOT FOR THE SAME PEOPLE or MARKET. So who cares.

The TTNET goon squad need to pull their heads in and STFU. Whats happening now is a defacto approval of the quality of the competing parts so that now people think they are a viable option istead of a CHEAPER VERSION, Same as if you could buy a BMW for the same price as a Taurus.

What I dont get is the fact that the original developers of the so called "coppied products" HAD more than enough opportunity to secure their products from copyright infringements, yet they ALL seemed to have failed to do any more than make a 'thing' that works and couldnt be bothered to make sure that it was theirs in every aspect by following up on the paper work ..... yet there are people out there that suggest that we should boycott those that jump on the bandwagon and make similar products.....



Ultimately .... IF there's issues with copyright infringements then surely its for the nominated courts to decide that and not the whim of forum members to be judge jury and exterminater on hearsay of coppied bits
