I've acquired a new spoiler to replace the rust filled normal one, and there's obviously going to be a shitload of rust under there, how should I fix this problem? What product should I use?
Pull the spoiler, you may find there is no rust in the hatch itself. If there is, just replace it with another as they are worth stuff all. Not worth the hassle fixing a rusted one when a good one can be had for under $100. Why will no one send you one?
I've got a replacement spoiler for it. That's all sorted. I already tried to get a whole hatch, but that wasn't going to happen.
just been down the shed doing the same deciding weather to pull the spoiler or not found some surface rust on the passenger front tip of the spoiler ??? need to find a replacement spoiler. let me know what you find.
I had a little rust appearing from under the spoiler, so i removed it and found this i quickly went out and bought a tube of SIKA and stuck the spoiler back on and tried to forget about the horror. later for a temp fix i killed the rust and fiber glassed the holes which didn't work to well as the patches have already cracked after a month The only real fix is to buy a rust free hatch which is what ive done or welding in new metal. which i could of done but hatches are cheaper at the moment.
guess im gonna have to bite the bullet and remove my old spoiler after seeing that. holy crap!!! will buy a new spoiler next week
Mine was rusted to shit but it was only the spoiler that was damaged, rip it off before you assume your hatch is rusted.
