I'm on the hunt for some now... money isnt a limitation, only when it comes to "hmmm should i spend more on the wheels than i did buying the car" self morals. So what should you spend. Besides a respray, wheels are the biggest thing on the outside of your car asthetically + they do effect how your car handles and performs. So looking at it like that you dont want cheap ass tempe tyres, you want to invent in something decent. JDM car = JDM rims, easy, so get rays, drift teks...... meh, its been done to death and they are such basic rims its sort of... whats the point on spending 4.5k on matt bronze 5 spokes when thats all it is......... and everyone has them. and usually dont come in 19" whichi s what i want So looking at OEM Concept rims and VIP Modular... my pick was 3 piece rims, made to order in what ever finish you want... I was thinking down the lines of chrome lip, white center or matching green lip, matt black center or chrome lip, matt black center or chrome lip, brush steel center or chrome lip, carbon wrap center Available in 3-Piece and Monoblock Forged Sizes: 19, 20, 21, 22, and 24" Widths: 8.5 to 14.0" - Standard and Deep Concave forging - Hubcentric Fitment - Aggressive Fitments - Lip depths are maximized for each individual vehicle unless otherwise specified Standard Finishes: Centers: - Brushed - Black - Chrome Lips: - Chrome Options: - Two-tone center - Custom color matched lip - Custom color code matched center - Pinstripe on outer lip - Finish on inner barrel - Custom finish lug nuts - Custom finish assembly bolts now... just got email back from OEM..... rims made to order $5,300 plus shipping.... so when i got back off the ground i started thinking... how much is too much?
Dont mean to state the obvious, but if you can afford it, then why not? Max I would probably pay is 2k
just because you can afford it, doesnt mean you should, or a good investment and all those other things your mum used to tell you about spending your pocket money.
They're too damn flat Josh. Everyone has them? News to me. Seems to me most people have cheap knock offs.
I love my wheels, but personally I'd struggle up to 3k, after that ies getting a bit much. That being said, if I find a set I love, I'll pay up to 5k maybe... Thats a big maybe.
What about a set of the 19x9 & 19x10 Rays off a 370Z. You can pick them up for around $2k with tyres & it would be different. I'm pretty sure they'll fit no worries, I'm running 350Z on mine & the 370Z Rays fit a 350Z Any way just a suggestion
I originally looked at Rays and something down that path but everyone has them. Ended up spending a lot but I made sure to budget it in with my lifestyle. Wheels + tyres $5300.
I'm a tight arse. Most I've ever spent on wheels was ~$1k on my second hand Work's. And they are still in the shed with no tyres on them I'd rather spend $5k on turbo's and some good seats.
Rotiform are creating some awesome 3 piece forged rims. I would consider spending 3 - 4 k maybe for my next car. I would go Matt black center/gloss black lip
cost me $5000 all up... bargain for big TE37's ..11's and 10's ($3600) and big R888's . 275's and 315's ($1400)
I'll be ohnest I spent 1.6k but mainly for 18x10 and 18x9. I thought that was a waste of money as stockers can get you into the 9's. Spent 1.5k on nos and thought that wasnt enough. I would put the 5k into engine rather than tyres.. Just my 2 cents though
3k I could agree with as a student, when I'm older and have more money... how long's a piece of string? I recently got hooked on CF3C Deep Concave's from Forgeline. 3 piece forged, made to order. 18x10.5 +30 and 18x11 +30 I was thinking. http://www.harrop.com.au/wheels_detail.php?prod=HF-CF3C-CON Copper spokes, polished lip (for a gun metal zed). Don't do a green lip whatever you do, you'll look like a bogan. Still thinking about them! Got a reply for my quote request... $1.2k per corner! I wish! I have a really hard time deciding on wheels personally. Can't get my eyes off a set of Rotiform's though...
I paid $5,700 for mine inc tyres Yeah was probably a bit too much but I really wanted them. I bought them 10 years ago, before Simmons closed shop and sold the rights to the Chinese. I've been told they're worth more now being the original Australian made Simmons. Most of the Simmons available these days are Chinese, and crap! Not sure I believe this, but they're probably worth close to what I paid still. OM 18x9 OM 18x10
