Ive recently acquired an 89 z32 tt 2 seater which hasnt been started in as long as maybe 9 years! rego last 03

Purchased from Castlereagh Penrith, i was told when looking over the car that the wiring had to be cleaned and the fuel pump needed to be replaced.
Only 93000 so i snapped it up and took it home.

When i got it home i looked in the fuel tank, i wish i tooks pictures to show.
The whole tank was rooted, surface rust and dead fuel which had turned to dirt and lacquer. The pump sock had worms growing off it!

So i bought a complete replacement tank including pump, which i haven't yet installed.

Upon looking at the electricals under the hood all the injector terminals were totaled, all green. Cut them back as far as i could and replaced them. Both temp sensors were the same and whatever that little black box on the passenger side/ front of the engine. \
Didn't look inside but cleaned its connectors.

Checked all fuel lines, the fuel was yellow and smelt off but a cross section of the rubber hoses showed it hadn't turned to dirt in there, still replaced all fuel lines.

Now i intend to rig up my new clean tank next to the Zed, put a battery in the car and give it a crank to see what happens.

But i know im probably forgetting something i should do first.
Ive already put upper cylinder lube in all the cylinders and will slowly turn the engine with a breaker bar first.

This is my first turbo car so i don't really know how to check/clean them.
If by some miracle the car starts i don't want it to suck in crappy old turbos, but then 93000kms is still pretty low right?

All oils are clean and free of metal shavings also.

So what else should i do before starting 'er up?

To all gods of every religion would still not be enough me thinks.

Is there a way to spin up my turbos with maybe a leaf blower to see if there seized or bearings noisy?

I should spray some oil down the too shouldn't I.

Sounds like you have done about all you can. The black box on the front of the motor is called a P.T.U . It would pay to check the tech section to see if you have a series 1 or 2 P.T.U and if it is a Series 1 change to a 2. Post in wanted for one if needed or contact member Vader as he sells them with the plugs. I would turn it by hand hand with the plugs out then first then crank it with the plugs out before putting them in and firing it up and leting it idle up to temp listen for noises. The timming belt should be changed/checked a.s.a.p to prevent a failure totallying the engine ( not trying to scare you but good insurance ). Maybe post up a tech day to see if somelocal members with knowledge can help out.

Take the plugs out and clean them. Replace the fuel filter.

I would do this as well. Cranking it over with the plugs out will give it chance to build oil pressure and lube the internals without putting to much load on the engine.

Cove Getting to be an old fart

Drain oil / and replace, change filter.
    replace petrol filter
Up Cylinder lube through plug holes (already done )
DO NOT REPLACE PLUGS AT THIS POINT IN TIME
Turn over by hand ( checking for frozen / corroded bores ( i think you have done this too )
Connect battery and crank over until oil pressure is registered and holds

    may need to recharge battery

now you can replace plugs etc and fire in earnest

OK so i hooked up the tank with some trailer cable, took the plugs out and poured some synthetic 2stroke oil in each cylinder. The piston heads are still shiny!

Turned it over for a bit with the plugs out, sounded very quiet.

Checked out the cables that run from the spark plugs to the coils.
There all totaled on the spark plug end so i jammed a heap of foil in there for the moment.

On that note if anybody knows of where i can obtain these cables without having to buy 6 coil packs please let me know! cheapest packs i found today were $150 each.

I put new spark plugs in and put everything back together.

Put 10 liters in the new tank, set up the camera and fired it up.

Hardly ran, very rough, wouldn't idle without throttle.

Started pulling coil plugs untill i determined which cylinders were actually firing.

Only 6 and 3 made a difference when removed, 1,2,4,5 made no difference.

Checked coil plugs and got about 12.7 off each one.

Checked cylinder 1 injector plug with a noid light and it blinked fine.

I also swapped coil pack 3 with coil pack 1. Made no difference so i guess those 2 packs work fine.

So im going to assume at this point i have power to all injectors and power to all coils and that my coils are fine.

Recon my injectors are rooted or should i check the ptu? still a series 1.

    long time

That amount of time without starting or turning over is not good for a lot of things, I would bet you have sticky injectors and as you have already said alot of the plugs were/ are green with corrosion. Just take your time with it and clean every conector you can find under the bonet, if you want coil packs try jinxed on the forum here, he had a few sets for sale not long ago and I think he was selling them really cheap, try the for sale section ;). As for injectors they might free up in time or you could also try Jinxed he may have a set for sale aswell. Good luck with the car mate and keep at it.

I took the spark plugs out, cleaned the 2stroke oil off them.
Got a nail file and cleaned up the injector terminals good and proper.
Tapped the top of each injector and turned it over.
Firing on 5, 1 wasn't. Turned the car off and tapped injector 1 a bit.
Turned over again now running on all 6!, power steering was noisy, topped it up and now everything sounds purry :)

Running a little rich but i know i have heaps of intake leaks to and from the turbo so thats to be expected right?
