Rounded brake line nut

While in the process of replacing my braided lines with stockies I have made a meal of the nut which connects the hard-lines to the front braided lines.
Looking for some suggestions on the best way forward.

I'm wondering if the whole hardline needs to be replaced or would a brake shop be able to just cut the line near the brake and add some new connections?

As for my lesson learnt, use a ring spanner with a slice cut out of it before mutilating the nut with a normal spanner....

    Thanks

Just use vice grips. I don't even bother with any other tool for those. I will buy a set of flare nut spanners one day though :p

OK ill give that a shot. The nut is almost completely round but its worth a try.

I dont even try using flare nut or crows foot spanners anymore ( even though I have both). More often than not you will still round them off.

A very heavily clamped pair of vice grips works everytime and doesnt mutilate flare nuts. Use them

These are great for just this scenario, do not cut into the nut, and grip it securely on 3 sides. I watching Bolts do his big break upgrade and thought this tool was a great idea- they are discontinued in Australia, but some stocks still exist on ebay and overseas sellers. The 7-LW model will do any flare nut (or other rounded nut) from 10-19mm

Hey those grips are very cool!
Ive not seen them before! Awesome! SO long as you actually have access to the offending nut tho!

Just ordered the 7-LW from amazon, $21 including postage. There was also a deal where you could get the smaller size and larger size at the same time for around $35 but for some reason they could not be shipped. No such problem with the 7-LW.
    Thanks All.

Vice grips did the job. Those things have serious clamping power!

The 7-LW will do the job, normal vise grips will do it too, but will marr the nut a little- nothing a bit of sandpaper won't fix if it really bothers you.

I use flared spanner and hammer tap on the end of the spanner in a way it also pushes the spanner in the undo direction.
