TTs and NAs run different brakes. The TTs must be bigger off. If you convert an NA to TT part of the engineering thingy needs to show that you upgrades the breaks to account for the increased engine output. I'll let someone else explain the exact differences in caliper / rotor sizes. Matt
TT's run thicker disks. Diameter is the same. From memory, NA disk is 26mm and TT is 30mm (or 32mm). I heard somewhere in my reading in the past that the NA only ran the 26mm rotors for the series 1...but this may have been only in the states, I'm not sure.
Ok thanks for the I think posts, so maybe I will as a few direct questions what size front rotors NA & TT ? what size rear rotors NA & TT ? front calipers NA & TT ? rear calipers NA & TT ?
Fine. Front NA = 11.6" x 26mm Alloy Caliper Front TT = 11.6" x 30mm Cast Iron Caliper Rears are the same between NA and TT. NA fronts were supposed to be swapped out by Nissan dealerships for the 30mm and cast iron calipers of the TT, but didn't often occur, so you should check first. TT rotors and calipers will fit on an NA.
and in metric: NA = 280mm x 26mm TT = 280mm x 30mm I think from 95 onwards NAs had the same calipers as TTs. Good indicator would be whether or not you have the early alloy calipers (with the cooling fins) or the later pig iron calipers (which are smooth).
what size are the rear discs? I would have thought all'y calipers would have been better than cast iron ??
I remember it differently to Andy. All 300zx calipers were alloy until Series three 1992 when they were changed to Steel because of some warpage issues. The NAs had the smaller 26mm rotor/caliper combo until mid 1991, when all models got the 30mm TT brakes. The rear rotors are 297 x 18
yep they are 297 ..my mistake they changed to cast iron because it was cheaper to manufacture as well
lol, Barry, in 93 I was 12 and z32 brake calipers were not high on the list of concerns. I'm just going by what has been said in the past
they are better. as said though it was a cost cutting change because the alloy ones cost nissan more.
did you know you can get bigger dia discs and offset them the brakes this is a common race upgrade then run 18inch wheels to miss calipers
