i'll be taking the door trims off my donor car tomorrow.. i can take pics if you like & explain it to you ?

If you just want to fix the window switch, the passenger side switch just pops out with a screw driver, then you should see the connector attached to it (or maybe not attached if it's not working) :)

You don't really state why you're taking off your door-trim?

Is it because your window motor won't work or for some other reason? If you have disconnected the switch from the doorcard then it will not work, even from the driver's side switch, reconnecting the switch will allow it to work to get your window down for door-trim removal.

The tech section here has a how-to, but as per usual the pics are not working: Tech Section

Anyway, if thats no help then do this:

    • Remove the 2 screws from the front of doortrim next to the hinges.
    • Remove the circular plug(about the size of 50 cent piece) on the outer side of the door window post.
    • Inside the hole there will be a screw, remove it(don't drop it as it can go inside your door, un-kewl).
    • Now remove the trim from the inside of the door window post(about 30cm long). Behind it, down low just above the doorcard are 2 screws/hex bolts that hold the top of the doorcard on an angular bracket, remove them.
    • Take the plugs out of the top and bottom of the interior door handle and remove the screws(don't drop these either!), remove door handle.
    • Gently pry out the plastic interior door handle surround and also the window switch. Unplug it.
    • Now gently pry the plugs free around the base of the doorcard, as I recall there should be 5 of them, from the bottom of the front around to where the door latches.

Funnily enough(or you're probably not thinking so) if you can't get your window down then you probably can't remove your door trim!

Thanks to Roadeater, great instructions,as I said earlier my pass side window won't work, switch is ok,and power is at switch so I think maybe faulty window motor or bad connection at motor. Any suggestions re this problem from other "z" owners would be appreciated. regards Stevo
