That really sucks - soz - police are wrong

I feel angry cause of your Z being hurt

The police were incorrect, that is a more pessimistic view not supported by statute. Paint can be matched forensically. "They" as you put it, just did'nt/ don't want to spend the money, time and resources into your car, they feel it is more insurance/ trivial in nature.

This however is incorrect as there is no such thing technically as a trivial crime, even if it is a traffic crime so to speak.

I am assuming this is where you park all the time and that there is a driveway opposite of your neighbour?? (if thats correct in understanding)
I am assuming that you believe your neighbour did this, its logical reasoning based on position and your neighbour deperting on a routine in/ out daily etc, is this correct? If so:

There are two things you can do:

    1. Write a letter to the Police Local Area Commander and request/demand politely the offender be held to account legally. (take photo's etc)

    2. Take him to court yourself. (go to the court house) :p

Do what you can to take the photo's - catch him by photo when his driving in /out?? Photo's of his car damaged is very strong circumstantial evidence, but combined with your testimony and photo's of the driveway in position and relative to yours, it is then an extremely strong case and I would be very "surprised" if the courts did not rule in favour of you.
If you do go that option should take the photo's of the car before and get three of the most expensive quotes (within reason or the magistrate might dislike you!) and present them to the magistrate.

Ever seen "judge judy" - it works a bit like that! So make sure you got your story 100% with all the facts and figures ready for her and as much testimony - bring a friend who has seen the damage as well and will testify, bring two more friends if you feel you will need to for her to believe you!

You should also request a days wages, you do this by applying at court on the day, ask the clerk of the courts.;)

THAT REALLY SUCKS :(and you need to be compensated by the A...hole!

Bloody Z killers - "it freaks me out"
    [TIS]

Hunt them down, get the evidence and take them to court, don't let them get away with trying to kill ya Z dude

tried my best to do all this before i went down to the cops when it happened, have heaps of photos on my phone from multiple angles and distances and i live with my olds currently and got both of them to come out and look at it, even took my dad down to cop station after i got a call back that they wouldn't send round a car to look at it. definately understand the matching of paints as i dropped out of an applied chemistry degree, but the original outlay of costs on my end is too great for me and i haven't fully been able to work out which one of their cars it was. tempted to wait til i hear some rowdy kids in the area and then exact random revenge on my neighbours with the random kids as cover story.

but the latest incident is in different neighbourhood and the dude is friends with my brother (was at my brother's house and it was his neighbour) but have had a better look at it and though the fog light still works it's houseing and what not are pretty shattered, still haven't worked out why the headlight low beam isn't working though. but there is other existing damage to the bar which was hit in the recent incident which makes me worry about if the insurance company will try and be shifty.

and just to add to Jamie's compo claim.

Wow, twice? Sure sucks mate - I feel your pain

But let's get something straight and not get hopes up:

You have testimony, circumstantial evidence and photos taken after the fact where no offender is (in the eyes of the courts) identified. While it is possible your neighbor caused the damage, a Magistrate will simply ask him/herself if there is any reasonable doubt as to their responsibility to causing the damage. And sorry, but from what ive read, there's reasonable doubt.

Also, paint matching on cars is not only time consuming, but horribly expensive. While there is an offence provision for leaving the scene of a MVA, I'm sorry to saybut it's not within the publics (ie. Taxpayers) interest to launch a full investigation into a orang under these circumstances. Taking one officer off-line for an investigation is very, very expensive.

Your best option is civilly pursuing the matter - but bear unkind reasonable doubt. I doubt very much that you'd get a favorable outcome via the courts (civil or criminal) in this case based on the facts at hand.

Your best option would be to contact a local lawyer and talk it through (for $400 or so an hour) if you want to pursue this through the courts.

Sucks, I know. But IMO - devote your time and money to getting your pride and joy fixed up.

    Goodluck!

That sucks that it even happened a first time, shattering that it happened a second time, and you know what they say about things happening in threes.

might i suggest that after everytime you park your car use about a dozen rolls of bubblewrap with some foam stuffed between them. Hopefuly will keep your neighbour at bay

Ok, so here is what you do. Keep parking your car in the same place and set up a camera.

Before you know it every panel on your z will be replaced and you will have a shiny paint job at the cost of the camera!

went and saw some panel beaters today and they all say i need a new bumper regardless of the existing damage so thats good (although sucky as i don't even know what aftermarket brand /copy of brand it is),also got my mate still hopefully coming round this arvo to finish the first job (just needs clear coat) and see what he says about the bar. I will look at buying the damaged bumper from the dudes who do my insurance claim. was going to see if i could modify it after i was going to get new bumper down the road. want to try and fit the indicators off my 91 maxima to it and see how it looks.
got the idea the other day when i was replaceing a blown globe in the indicator with my mate, we pulled out the indicator and he suggested grabbing the bulb from my dead maxima which is sitting on my front lawn as they are very close year nissans (same engine as the z31's i think) anyways was the same bulb only was clear not orange and the connector on my z was playing up so we thought why not just swap with the one we just pulled the bulb from.... and of course nissan designed the plug connectors so they don't just straight swap across although being identical except for a little bar of plastic that was on opposite side if each connector, so cut the wires and fitted the connector and i just happen to have the maxima indicator my hands and sized it up againts the 300zx ones and although they are a bit bigger i think i could work it and get some bigger lights to replace the fog lights and match the slight size diff and have a one of a kind bumper for one of the future fleet of z's i now dream off :zlove:

From the look of those pics with the damage on the front bar, it's a Greddy/UAS front bar
