I have somehow Broken The bracket that is welded onto the rear crossmember which holds the bottom rear control arm on the drivers side, noticed the wheel was sitting with alot of camber. What is the best way to fix this, new crossmember or would it be repairable?
Have the mount weilded back in place by someone who knows what there doing, it should be fine if thats the only thing dameged.
the only thing is that the bracket didnt break at the weld, it is a bit of a mess would possibly need a new one or to fabricate a new one?
Ive just managed to get the car 4 hours back home using some very thick fence wire to hold the control arm in place which worked very well to my suprise! Is there any good places around sydney northshore where i could get this done?
I saw on bush mechanics once you can rope up a tree log in place of the wheel and suspension and drag the car around on the wood. I think a hard wood would be preferable but a soft wood worked a charm in the datty 120y they say.
Very unlikely. Most reputable workshops will be reluctant to adopt the "very thick fence wire" repair system.:rofl::br:
HAHAHA! just looked at my wording, i meant any place i could get a new bracket made up and welded back onto the crossmember
Another tip for chriz I had a flat last year, stuffed it with tumbleweed and its still working to this day
