just an interesting observation for the 300zx population, there are a few colours in the 300zx factory colour range that could be considered "rare", namely the yellow pearl, dark green, dark purple and metalic brown (convertible only) the other colours are, by comparison, quite common. this means that when the cars were built those colours were less popular to the new car buyers, so fewer people bought them (undesirable). however this changes as the cars age and the colours become more desirable based purely on the fact that they are "rare", marking a complete turn around from undesirable/unwanted, to more desirable/more unique just an observation, it works for any car, not just zeds...... discuss/comments?
this came up today at work (car dealership) becasue in the used car lot, we are constantly asked to try and source "rare" colours for people, and the cars just arent out there, coz the dealers never sold many brand new.......
i thought the green ones were US market vehicles which rules out popularity over here unless you were talking about worldwide.
i "think" late model japanese variations also had a dark green available, in fact i vaguely recall a lady selling one in the for sale section 6-12 months ago in dark green....was a nice example the purple was certainly a late model only colour
mines not the factory yellow.......(it was however factory brown before respray....ewwwww!) i quite like the "banana paddle pop" factory yellow pearl......fades badly though compared to other colours
There was a green one for sale on ebay 12 months back in perth, but the jerk never answered any of my emails.
Got this from the link ADAMZX posted the other day for model changes. Apparently there was some Green DN1 JDM cars 10/94-01/97. http://translate.googleusercontent....or.htm&usg=ALkJrhglWNuvmFLyV5Qyb1lYixEeXY5WvQ Looking at the link, the US colors that were not done on JDM cars were Super White 326 (Australian model had this) the ones we wont see are Gold Pearl EJ0 and Azure Blue Pearl BJ0, although I thought I had seen a BJ0, might of been a respray. Ztoy's is close to Gold Pearl EJ0, but Eric tells me its just a shade of brown. Ztoys schmick looking car, dont know what colour it is. EDIT: found it "Lexus 4t1 - Metallic Beige". Gold Pearl EJ0 (US Colour) Azure Blue Pearl BJ0 (US Colour)

Interesting colour, from what I can read its a US 94 only colour. Strange its not on that Japanese forum colour list. http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/204097-f-s-1994-300zx-twin-turbo-5-spd-low-miles-mint.html DJ2-Black Emerald
There and absolutley mint brown convertible that roams around in my suburb. The brown is actually not as bad as you think. Id still never get it but it looks clean.
Nice pics, however the Midnight Blue Pearl in your pic is entirely different to the Midnight Blue Pearl on my 89 TT 2+2.
wasnt aware of the existance of 2 of those colours, azure blue and black emerald...... the azure is nice, the green soso in my opinion........ i remember seeing a production list of how many of each variation and colour was made for the us market at some stage..... would be interesting to know how many of each have ended up in australia, but even then the data would be incorrect what with all the resprays once in country done and so on
I see a big difference between my car and Vader's car. Both have AH3 cherry red but look different right next to each other.
Same here. Aza's zed (pre rebuild) looked totally different to mine. I think there may have been variations on the AH3; one with pearl and one without. In direct sunlight (or camera flash) mine has a real bright red glow to it.
