I made a shelf for some 6x9's 15mm melamine sheet a length of hard wood and some screws, its screwed into where the boot shade screws into easy to remove if space is needed but not so great if i want to use the shade might have to change it a little ..
Nice fabrication work, but why not get some decent 6x4's for your rears? its not like your going to hear those speakers much up front...
With 6*9's you do... Especially since there is no sub present. It's a great idea but it should look a little more subtle because you don't want east stolen gear showing through the glass since you dont have the boot cover on.
i cant hear my fronts any more the rears drain them out and i am running 6 inch alpine type r in the front ! didnt really think that far ahead about the shade just ripped it out and thought great pre drilled screw holes after i was finnished it was like nah i dont need the shade but yeah is probably best to have the shade in action so will have to tinker and drop the shelf a bit
hi all just thought audio fans might like to see. this is my work in progress what a pain in the butt it was so much stuffing around trying to get stuff to line up right, still not 100 % but i'll get there .
HOLY SHIT >. that looks awesome.. im a bit critical about the invert mount on the subs but otherwise looks amazing so far.. What are you putting in/on the tops of those sub boxes?
in/ on top of sub boxes ? i was just going to do them in sub box carpet why is that do u have an idea for me
How the Hell do you access your spare tyre or your Jack/Tools(not to mention replace a Tail-light globe)?
everything is easily removable bit by bit can be removed if i need space only takes a few minutes to get it all out and it is all attatched to the car , but spare tyer stays in the gararge cause i have had to drop the floor height to fit the 12 in subs. so if i decide to stray far from home everything will have to come out for the spare tyer i am lucky i have an assistant who will bring me my spare if i do so need it .
It is my understanding that the lack of a "serviceable spare tyre" is grounds for declaring a car "unroadworthy"(at least in NSW)as it is part of the Emergency Kit(which also includes the Jack and Wheel Brace).
hmm didnt think of that wonder what qld rules are , well i guess if it is the case here in qld i just will have to take the ticket not that anyone ever has asked to see my jack or spare, jack is behind the amp, and in over 10 yrs of driving have only had 1 flat tyre and cars not a daily anymore so guess i will just have to take a chance .
Thats why we have NRMA and RACQ. Another dumb law is that cabs are supposed to carry a bale of hay in the boot. (still in place today) Nice Audio set Too. Suggestion: Inserts (thick) perspex in the top to allow clear vision of the subs front face. Also blue LED/neon in the sub box to light it for effect and to match the amp.
Interestingly enough, some new Audi do not have a spare wheel at all, however i guess that is slightly different. Begs the question as to why Audi can bend the rules.... However, on another note. That setup looks FREAKING INSANELY AWESOME! Although I must ask, why inverted subs?? Advantages? Less rattle? Cannot wait to see the finished product!
hmmm i do like the idea of clear sub tops, i have blue neons to go in the boot but def something to think about. invert well i dont know much about sound systems but i have a mate who is pretty switched on he is running 2 alpine type r 12 as well, he was telling me he found he got more punch with the invert. i am not too sure atm what way i will run them, i just inverted to see what it would look like. need to find space for a pdx 1.1 for the subs , i also have a few other nice ideas I am sort of thinking i am a few weeks away from having it up and running. was thinking i might get a comment about the sub box not sitting flush with the boot on the left and right side but it has not come so before it does i am still getting the height right on the boxes thats why those subs dont look like they r at the same level for invert.
Audi dont have spare tyres yes... newer BMW dont either.. this is because they use runflat tyres, this means even with a puncture, the tyre's sidewalls will keep the rims off the ground and allow the car to drive for another 50km or so..
In NZ we have a few silly quirks too. You don't legally need to carry a spare but if you do it has to have the minimum legal tread and be securely bolted down. I once failed our WOF because my spare wasn't bolted down. Was carrying a standard ZX wheel
