Name this part...

    So I just found this part floating around my engine bay. Was resting in between the crossmember and the steering rack. Anybody know what it is or where it should be?

    looks like it might be the alternator nut... have a look at ur alternator top bolt that bolts it in place ... if u can move this bolt somewhat then its that... ur alternator might "just" be holding on

    thats off the top of my head... worth a look...

    Alternator top pivot mount, rear Nut. Stops the nut twisting while you do up the front bolt.

    Great. Not such a big issue then given the alternator is at this time out of the car. Just didn't notice it when I pulled the alternator out. Lovely. Thanks!

    I ran without one of them for aaagggeeesss with no hassles. I would still put it back on though :p
