Hi guys at the moment i have the manual controls
    [IMG]
and its got cracks and its loose so im looking to replace it. just wondering if its possible to change it to the other style with the liitle temp screen in in? and if its worth it.

if its possible and at an advantage, how much work would it be and a cost :) cheers

Anything can be done for the right amounts of money :)

but is it worth it? that's up to you. to me it is but than again I'm bit wierd.

I did a conversion on S14 200sx ADM manual a/c to climate. it was quite involved. I only had the Head unit with 5cm of wires after the plug. But s14 unit has all the brains in the unit itself unlike the Z32. i had to modify the wiring to suit the JDM climate. luckily the diagrams were quite good in the service manual and made life bit easier. Also adaptability of parts from other models helped quite a bit (ie sensors, fan speed amplifier is shared with S13 R32 R33)

i can give u few pointers that i know but if any member that has actually done this please edit or point out my errors.

there is few ways of doing this.

easiest be to grab the entire auto setup which includes:

    1.The control panel
    2.Ecu module
    3.entire a/c loom
    4. all the stepper motors in case they different.
    5. ambient temp sensor (if manual don't come with it) mounted in front of the car behind the bar.
    6. Light/Sun Load sensor (the one on the dash)
    7. Fan speed amplifier (i believe manual ones have a resistor pack)
    8. and i think last will be the inside temp sensor.

if u going through the troubles may suggest installing the S2 climate control as it gives u more control over the system ie: direction of the vents and 4spd fan instead of hi/lo/auto in the s1 system u have picture attached.
u do loose amb temp display.

but that can be easily upgraded latter as it only involves swapping the control and ecu. module

than remove the entire dash and swap the bits over.

    or

u can try grazed knuckles and very bad vocabulary and few gray hairs without removing the dash.

i think i mentioned most of it. please others comment on things that ain't true.

other options are lot harder than above which involves good knowledge of electronics and good use of soldering wire and reading electronic circuit diagrams.

Cost shop around biggest will be head unit and ecu box. (will have S1 available soon, awaiting for my s2 to arrive)

but find a jdm wreck and cannibalize the A/C bits under the dash. :D

Just get a new pod - it's the black plastic rear section that the control face place is mounted to! - over time all the screw holes crack & that's why it will be loose! You can try & get a good one second hand or just buy brand new!

There is advantages and disadvantages in both. With the complete auto unit you have no way of directing the air where you would like it to go, you only have a two speed fan and you cannot directly control the temperature.:zlove:
