    Is motor blown ?????????????

  3. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

When that was happening to me I was getting both spark and fuel, but either not enough or too much fuel. the coolant temp. sensor was acting up and sending an incorrect message to the ECU regarding what temperature the engine was. $100 fix. Worth a look :zlove:

Good luck. NRMA reconed I'd snapped my timing belt and it turned out to be a $70 PTU...

Pull the plugs and give them a clean, do at least cylinder 1 and 2. It sounds like the plugs are wet. It will start running, be it rough and should enable the others to clean up.

Pull the temp sensor plug off - if it is the problem it should start (however it will be roughish). I had the same issue, temp sensor was reported -40 degress to the ecu =/

Check the plugs, see if they are covered in fuel.

Are you running a series 1 PTU? I killed about 3 of them. Each time one died, the car would behave pretty much as you described.

theres a temp sender on the front of engine on water pipe to head and there is a fuel temp sender just behind cylinder 2 to 4 low down

Mate, it's all here. A simple search will tell you what it is. Have a look in the tech section:

was the car working fine the day before and just wont start. everything crank and seems to be working?

had similar issue in my s14 few month ago.

car driven the nite before all fine switched off went to sleep and in the morning hit the key it cranks but no life. it almost sounded it had no compression and it was just spining freely....

Got worried checked spark fuel etc. seemed to have it all but no go. though alarm had a gremlin too but not so.

was very puzzled. why all of sudden wont start. checked the bat voltage got 12V. cranked the engine and voltage dropped to 8V.

i know the stock ecu in s14 wont run properly if less than 9.5-10V.

recharged the battery. hit the key and came to life. somewhat rough at start as it was flooded from previous failed starts. after that no probs.

    so :

1.check the battery. even if it turns maybe drops to much to run the ecu properly. it may show spark and fuel but not enough of it or timing could be totally out due to ecu running below normal operating voltage.

2.Alarm can cause issues if u have fitted one.

    3. PTU as mentioned above and fuel pump if u cant hear it pressurising the system.

batteries can be deceiving. they may read correct when not under load and then just drop like crazy when loaded. but having tried few maybe not the case but to be sure:

get a multimeter place it across the terminals and look what voltage it is when its cranking.if below 10V it probably wont like it.

option two if u have a decent battery tester.

PTU check the tech section if my explanation make no sense. its in front of the motor just under radiator hose on the right bank . rectangular looking thing with plug on each side. u need to get a good working one and replace it (see if any local member have one spare that can lend it to you. if its from S1 PTU (the troubled one) it may be good idea to get it upgraded to S2 Ptu from later model. check tech section again.

most of this is spelled out in "A to Z " in tech section.
