its nearly been 12 months since i crashed the Z and i never got the chance to upload some decent photos onto the forum so im in a lecture bored and thought i would share. :br:
I got the pictures below its devastating. If you know Brisbane i was coming round the bend heading to the gold coast on the spring wood on ramp to the highway i just put my foot down a little to early and the car went 90 degrees to the left where i was looking at the car front on in my left lane i locked the wheel right so when the car re gripped i hit the guard rail at about 60/70ks i believe and the car bounced round doing a 360, you can see the rear left wheel folded under its self - due to the car being an NA import AAMI insured me thinking it was a Aus Spec and they realised that in the centre due to the import plate and they wrote it off cause they dont deal with imports.
Such a beautiful car man... Faaark that's sad. It's those split second decisions we make sometimes we wish we can go back in time. It happens... Oh well. What's replaced it?
I now Drive a 2010 Subaru Impreza RX so a powerless all wheel drive haha its nice but i miss the Z it had so many features that the Subaru doesnt have. For a 91 car not only was it more comfortable but it has everything and more than the new one. The all wheel drive is nice though! In the process of finding a TT no rush, i have some money saved to work on one again and a daily car, so it wont be long before im back!
It's a very beautiful Z.. Shame to see what happened to it. I've never really been a fan of a red car, but that red just really pop's. Hope you can be joyful in another Zed one day soon.
What brand stretched rear tires did you have on it? Seems odd that it just lost traction. Sad though to see. Reminds me of the old red slick na manual zed we used to have....
Sad to see man, i had a similar experience with my first zed, except it was pissing down with rain. Happens so fast that before you know it your sitting there facing the other way thinking 'wtf just happened??' At least you came out unscathed. Well and truly sucks about the insurance side of things though, such bullshit that they can choose to say cant cover you because its an import but will happily take your premiums. Surely they have access to that info and can refuse to 'cover' you. Dodgey pricks...
When you say they just wrote it off - surely they still gave you a payout on the car!? If they made a mistake when you first took out the policy by not asking you whether or not it was an import - that's their problem (obviously a different case if they did ask in the beginning...).
I still got a market value payout which I believe was 10k but I believe a write off is 80% damage and It was Definately okay I found the car with a custom front bar on car sales 3 months later
that would have taken a fair bit to put back on the road, the front end copped it pretty badly, would have been lots of bent bits (radiator support, headlight buckets, maybe even suspension towers etc) shame it got wrecked, was a good looking beast!
