EOI aluminium cover for ecu ply board

just feeling out for an EOI on some covers for the ecu's instead of the ply boards we have as standard.
My car did not come with ply board so not sure on the wieght difference but suspect ally to be lighter. If somone can weigh there ply cover and let me know what it is i can do the same and post the differance.
Pictures will be posted late tomorow when i have finished the first plate.
even without the clean and polish of the first it already looks very profesinal and neat fit all edges are rounded safty type edege and small mod's can be requested for cables that run through IE battery cables for battery relocation as most run down passenger side.
Price's will follow soon if enough interest shown maybe even a small logo cut in like a fancy Z for when its time to lift it out to access the ecu for that extra bling effect.
    thanks guys
    kind regards wayne :zlove:

I think this would be good for piggyback ecus; if you make it more accommodating than standard plywood, something like Emanage blue could fit in there without sticking out and annoying the passenger.

Weight-wise, I doubt you'll be able to make it much lighter - from what I remember that plywood was very thin and weighed very little.

a good initiative .... i have always wondered why Mr Nissan put such a piece of cheap rubbish wood in that spot given the overall finish of the vehicle ....

could be interested, depending on price ....

sounds like reinventing the wheel to me. plus it will get much hotter than the wood

Not to mention that your possibly inviting corrosion between the aluminium and steel from wet carpet form a leaking heater core etc.

And a sheet of ally thick enough would likely be heavier than the bit of ply.

I kinda like the ply, it's not sharp :p

EOI for ally plate over the ecu

i could rub my plum's around the edeg all day and not even get a rash
but it was just an offer
no harm would have only been about the $45 polished not a big profit or anything just a thought i only used 1mm and will probably go to 2mm plate but seems strong enough thats without the 1 inch holes saving in wieght as well as some form of breathing for heat build up should have got some pics but have been helping fix some exhaust problems for wifes magna then a mates today and havent been able to finish it off. so when i have finished i will post some pic's less holes as need a hole saw. and maybe get some more feedback
    thanks for the reply guys
    cheers wayne

wouldnt wish that one on anyone chrispy
was thinking of a gromey to fit the mounting points to stop the posabilty of any rattles and keep it from making a metal to ally contact and to limit scatchs not that this will be end of them all together.and my battery cables run under mine and i covered them with clear compressor hose for added insulation as i dont want a electric fire in my zed as i wouldnt want to have that thought that i was a factor to some other members zed being destroyed by my handy work .
i am really only trying to pool some money for a motor that must be getting up erics at a2zed's nose just like to fix that bill up so as not to drag it out to long. and help out some members if i can as well.
so realy greatfull for the comments guys please keep it coming as anything that stands out is important for me and hopfully some members in the future
    kind regards

Is it going to be highly polished with 300ZX engraved into it? I know that no one would ever see it but I'd know that it was there.

    early pics update

early update as not finished but some quick idears to see what could be done and what i cant cut out i can out sorce and have it done but the price would have to be a wee bit more for that this shows what i can do here at the moment
holes can be caried through or just a Z maybe a bit bigger. i thought the bio hazard sign cut out would be a laugh. get the carpet edeged and show it off in the car full time was also passing through my thoughts carpet going up 2 inches up the plate cut the carpet and edege it and its there to see for all.
    just another thought
    cheers wayne.
PS. would be clear coated to keep the shin longer.

Have you done the plum test yet?

  15. It's made out of wood on purpose ,If there is a water spill near that area the wood will absorb most of it .Protecting the ECU

One concern...is the the passengers "panic brake". ie, when you come to corner and they feel that your going to fast and put all their weight on the imaginary brake...that plate will just bend.
