hi, Did the TT conversion a while ago, and recently picked up through a bit of reading that the NA and TT auxillary fans are different. NA is one speed, TT is two speed. If i wanted to change to the TT one, then do the mod so it comes on at different settings is this a simple plug and play mod? Otherwise would i just be better off rigging up the NA auxillary fan to come on when the ignition comes on? cheers Jay
tt has 2 speeds, na is a one speed. just run your na fan on a switch full power. the tt low power setting is a waste of time.. are you having overheating dramas??? you can setup a manual switch for the aux fan on a relay if you want
on really hot days the temp is getting up there, so i won't bother driving it on those days. also idling in traffic it cuts out sometimes so i'm just going through everything to give it the best chance. is there a tech for putting the NA fan on a switch? or can i just have it connected to the ignition so it runs that way all the time? i've got a FMIC which i don't think is helping airflow either but then i've got a vented nose panel and a vented bonnet which i thought would help.
are you running a clutch fan??? udp ??? by anychance. could be a faulty clutch fan.. if your aux fan is cutting on and off id look at the cts sensor dude... the aux fan shouldnt be coming on unless your at 109 degrees !!
You can add extra relay so that whenever AC comes ON fan will start at full speed which I did. However this fan can only drop 2/3 degrees which is not much. I would consider a new clutch for the fan. Temperature will drop at least 7/10 degree.
I'm running an UDP. Probably need a new clutch fan as i don't think i replaced it when i did the TT conversion.
If the NA and TT fans both run at the same speed (at full speed), what use is there adding the slow speed setting to the NA fan? I suppose the only difference would be the NA would potentially run hotter than the TT until it reached the fan start temperature. Following that line of (un)logic one would think the TT fan must run faster than the NA fan. Can anyone confirm? PS +1 for the clutch fan.
Hey Ross, I've got a couple of spare aux fans in the roof space which all seem to work still. I reckon the clutch will be the way to go. I've got the underguard plastics on definitely - wouldn't risk driving without them. I think the days its got hot have just been very warm days and i've been idling in traffic.
yeh id say clutch fan on the way out or your belt is really loose !!.. you are running a fan shroud correct?
