yeah wouldnt touch the drivers side....just wanted to get it mobile again.....
when the waters subside up the coast will take a cool cruise up to Brisbane and get
Eric to do some work on the beast...no-one down here unfortunately and have had some good feedback... and hes been only too happy to take a call during this ordeal...might go for some real power and treat the lady. Shes a 95 and hasnt done much work so she should be ok for some real RWK's

I had issues with my passenger side turbo and it was in and out 4 times - I was certain I was not pulling the engine that often to check my turbo issues. oh and the probblem was due to a few seperate issues with the oil feed to the turbo.

When i undid the banjo bolts ...one of the holes through was completely blocked with gunk ...maybe this contributed to my problem .......

when I got my car the passenger side turbo oil feed had been cut and joined with vacuum line. (long story dont ask.... hey that sounds like another thread) needles to say the passenger side turbo did not like this neither did my driveway when we started the car. once this was corrected (turbo pulled and swapped with a spare because it died). then I almost killed that turbo as a piece of the vacuum line had gone through the tee for the sensor and blocked the turbo side of it, (pulled the turbo to check on condition figured it was almost stuffed but I would run it again untill I knew the problem was sorted, third times a charm and I did kill the second turbo as I was still not getting proper oil flow (the hard pipe behind the AC compressor was kinked) my last spare turbo went in and a dry run was done with the return line disconnected so I could see oil pouring out.

Short part of the story...... if you promise to help a friend fitting the engine in his car then not (even if it is due to genuine reasons) dont complain if you buy the car and find stuff is not quite right. I am not complaining just pointing out problems that can occur when inexperienced people attack things.

A couple of hiccups but took the beast for a run up the road today....
Getting front bar painted Monday together with a new Nose panel, one of Gonzo's then put them back on and I am ready to organise a much needed cruise for the Zedders down here...

Yep.. cursing and swearing works well !
Alan Norton and I finished fitting the passenger side turbo this afternoon.
Took most of the day to fit back in. Runs sweet as!
Took most of last sarurday to remove the turbo only to find the exhaust vien was seperated from the shaft. The reason the shaft snapped is the actuator was not pushing straight and was binding the wastegate causing the pressure build up with no place to go. The rest, is expensive history. You have to remove a lot of bits just to get to 4 nuts. The ones that hold the turbo on.
This was the third time the passenger side turbo had to be removed and fixed. Never even thought about the actuator not pushing streight could cause this heartache.
Pressure checked it the first and second time it moved ok - so we thought.
If replacing a faulty turbo, change the oil and filter. you should have seen the amount of fine shards of metal in the oil and filter. Don't want that recirculating around again.

Ya need 4 knuckles and 2 thumbs on each hand and 2 elbows on each arm to make the job easier :)
My hat goes off to those professional mechanic/technicians who work on Zeds. You guys must have a massive amount of patients, (or a good suppy of Valium)

gmbrezzo, yep lots of swearing and cursing, gettting ahead of oneself and realising that I had to go back a couple of steps to make something fit...pain in the arse but now that its done I feel a sense of achievement.. Yep did the oil and filters of course, lots of nasty stuff came out!
Yeah hats of the the mechanics that work on Zeds.....probably the reason that there isnt a good one in Tassy since Scot from Source Automotive hung up his spanners...

Is there anyway to find a list of recommend mechanic who have Zed experience.
We have a "speed" mechanic here in dubbo who can build 800+hp holden, ford ,chevy's but when I spoke to him just to obtain some information on where to buy braided hose he said "300 ZXs are baned from here cause they are too hard to work on" that was when i turned up in a crappy looking falcon. He must have thought my 300 was in the same condition and wanted cheap work. After he saw my car at the Dubbo car show he changed his tune. Guess what... hes never getting his hands on my car.

Re turbos: Alan has a cartridge filter called "Trasko" and after seeing the very fine particles it grabbed I'm planning to fit on to my car. Alan recommend the Japanese modle with cooling fins as the plain stainless one tends to leak on a high oil pressure system. These things are not cheap but what are our motors worth?

For those wishing to venture down this path, I will post some photos of the things one needs to do to make this possible... eg what you need to do to perfectly good tools etc...might be a couple of days until i get gack to my computer...
