    okay so the tyres on my new zed are fairly worn, and i have decided to replace at least the front ones, but possibly the back also .
    However.. i really have no clue about what I'm looking for in sizing.
    The front left is a Falken Ziex ZE-326 205/55 R16 89V
    The front right is Federal Formoza FDI 205/55 R16 91V
    Both rears are Bridgestone Turanza's 255/55 R16 95V

    can someone clear up all these numbers for me?? :confused:
    and offer some guidance as to what i should be running, should they all be the same?. due to an extremely limited budget i shall be getting cheap tyres.
    Thank you kindly. :)

    255 = width
    55 = wall height
    R16 = diameter

    I thought they were supposed to be 225/ 50 R16 for stock wheels, for both the Aus spec NA and the Jap spec TT.
    And yes I'm aware that the US got 8.5" wide rear wheels. ( Europe too? )

    Dont get stupid cheap tires mate. Losing traction at 100km/h isnt fun in the wet.

    225/50-16
    225 is tire width,
    50 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width. E.g. 225/50 has a sidewall of 112.5mm.
    and the lucky last number 16 is your wheel diameter.

    So the overall diameter of your wheel+tire is 16"(~37.5mm)+225mm. Then you have your speed ratings eg 95V google that for more info.

    check the for sale section, a forum member is selling a set of toyo t1r 225/50/r16 front and 245/50/r16 rear (if i remember correctly) for only $450.

    or if you want budget tyres, buy mine! a set of 225/60/r16 next to new only $200!

    also the 89/91/95 is the load rating of the tyre. you might want to check the tyre placard (should be on the sill when you open the drivers door) because I think the minimum load rating is 90 for a zed tyre (so your front left would be under rated) but the police/vicroads will just go by whatever is on the tyre placard so double check that first (there are a couple of different tyre placards out there so yours might be different to mine).
    the V (or any letter after the load rating) is the speed rating of the tyre. I think V rating is 240km/h and again, check the tyre placard for the minimum speed rating required.
    you (generally) get what you pay for with tyres so considering all your braking, cornering and accelerating is limited by your tyres it's worth paying a bit more to get something good.

    Not sure what your budget is Paddy but Beaurepaires have a 25% discount on Dunlop tyres until Xmas.
    SP Sport Maxx in 225/50/R16 are $804.00 per set, fitted & balanced.
