Okay so my oil is runny as fuel and the fuel smell is overpowering... Could this be why it's blowing white smoke? What is the cause of this? Bear in mind I just dumped the engine in there a few weeks ago, could i have misplaced a hose??

Also there are several hoses, all vacuum I believe, that I cannot find a home for...
    Help is much appreciated guys

    fuel...

If fuel is getting into your oil, I would imagine that your car is running very very very rich and dumping excess fuel into the cylinders.... Obviously not all fuel is being combusted and the rest nicely washes the bores of your cylinders and ends up in your oil...

If this is true, the fuel is diluting your oil and you are damaging your engine.... Does the car run like poo?? what is your fuel economy like??

Of course, this may not be the problem but I do know of this happening to one car when it was being tuned on the dyno. The A/F ratio sensor in the exhaust pipe malfunctioned and the tuner kept enriching the mix due to wrong readings from the sensor... that motor eventually got rebuilt...

If its a freshly installed engine, how long was the process in getting it to start? Have it cranking over without firing? or only firing on some cylinders for a duration?
Fuel would still have been injected into the cylinder throughout this process, and some will make its way into the sump. Change the oil and check it again next time its due for a change before hitting the panic button :)

Well I barely drove it up the road and it started bellowing out plumes of white smoke, having just installed an engine which I know to be pristine I figured straight away that it must be the turbos.

It only took me a couple of cranks before it was going okay... It's a pig to drive and every now and then it takes a few seconds before it starts.

    Do not start it again.

If your oil is that thin and diluted with fuel then it's providing bugger all lubrication. Which in turn could cause white smoke, as it will be going straight through your seals.

Drain the oil and fill it with cheap mineral oil and filter. Run it for a bit up to op temperature and then drain it again. Repeat until that fuel smell is gone, then replace the filter and fill with your synth oil of choice.

The only real place fuel can get into the crankcase is from over-cranking, as someone mentioned previously. So lets assume you've fixed that issue, now lets clean your oil!

possibly dodged up the injector o rings, fuel will just be dumped into the oil and is VERY bad

Awesome :D I'll get onto that then. That's a relief. It's barely been driven more than 1k and idled for more than 10min so minimal damage I would presume.

Heck of a lot better than buggered turbo's!

check for fuel damper, regulator failure, injector o rings, or leaky injectors

Smoke or steam , vacuum hoses unconnected, check that the washer hose to the boonet hasn't been connect to the engine drawing in water from the washer bottle,
