Good / Bad / Terrible Fuel Consumption

    I've got an NA 4 seater. On a full tank of premium I get typically 400kms.
    I've read a few threads on fuel consumption issues. Is 400kms per tank good or average? (I have heard stories of only 200kms from a full tank...:eek:).

    To improve fuel consumption, can anyone add to / correct this list of suggestions + add useful tips / other details?:-

    - Check for error codes / clear them (which ones are relivant to bad fuel consumption?);
    - Replace / Clean coolant temp. sensor;
    - Clean / Replace injector connectors;
    - Check / Replace spark plugs;
    - Replace TPS (throttle position sensor);
    - Clean / Replace air filter/s;
    - Replace O2 sensors;
    - ?????????;

    Replace Fuel Filter :)
    It's on my list of things to do. Apparently they are only $30 from Nissan, not sure about that though.

    400km sounds about the lower end of the "average" spectrum.

    My 2 seater NA gets ~450/tank.

    Replacing the O2 sensors would be my first point of call after checking for error codes. If you don't have consult or ecutalk I recommend getting someone who does to check if the O2s are actually functioning (people with consult should know how to identify this).

    After you've checked the above, move on to the next few options. Other than that, the best fuel saver can sometimes be the right foot :(

    Probably are $30 from Nissan, as you can get them from repco/supercheap for $20. :p

    Not sure it would do much for your fuel economy though :p

    Nissan ones fit, Ryco's don't :p

    400k's to a tank in a auto NA is about what you would expect.

    i get 400ks to a tank in my manual 2 seater n/a. ive heard the aus spec's get better fuel ecconomy, due to a different ecu tune. is this true?

    I would get 450km at the minimum with combination of average/spirited driving, 650km+ on the freeway from my Aus-spec. With a better tune im sure I could hit 700km+ on the freeway.

    ditto re above comments - Hervey bay to gold coast and return is about 900kms and I'm getting close to 700kms from a tank - 1990 Aus spec NA Manual in good tune and light right foot.

    new version of ECU talk has fuel usage,

    i was playing with it on the way back from sydney yesterday.

    i could get about 7km/l when cruising at a constant pace at 110kmph (no cruise control)

    400KM city is about right. You should see between 600-700KM on the highway.

    Random ~ I have a heavily modded NA and have never had anything less than 600ks from 70litres of 98 fuel during 10 years of ownership/regular daily or spirited driving.

    I have a TT 2+2 Auto and just after my 100k service i got just under 600km and i know both my O2's are dead! before the 100k service i was getting around 400 - 450km. I've just bought new air filter foam and i also need a new fuel filter. and then i'll get my O2's replaced very soon. Im hoping around the 700km + hopefully :)

    400 NA auto is about average in town. i wouldn't be too concerned but wouldn't hurt to try and improve it either.

    my zed on the highway will get a tad over 600kms to a tank, in the future i may get it tuned, see what kind of figures i can come up with

    This is true, Aus-Spec zeds have a more conservative fuel map :)

    You can run AUSPEC Zeds quite happily on 95 octane. I used to get 500 around town on my JSPEC NA auto running on 98. It was running perfectly and I would fill up when the light came on.
