if you can get a new motor for $1500 or so just drop that in and part out your old motor will work out quite cheap

Just blew a head gasket recently and I'm in the process of swapping the engine out. Head gasket replacement is an "engine out" job so you may aswell just get a new one, more cost effective.

Just bought a plenum to polish and it's coated with oil on the inside... assuming that's not meant to be?

    oil

the inside of the plenum is always coated in a light film of oil because the PCVs recirculate into there. But if the oil is pooling considerably that its causing puddles in the plenum, then thats not normal.
