having done a little more research. seems that 1000cc injectors and over (low impedance which require injector driver ) are fine to tune with idle . Mine are high impedance. all the people with 850cc I've seen idle just fine. havent come across anyone with 1000cc high impendance anywhere.
I have 870's as well and am sure they are going to be plenty big enough up to 24psi. Top feeds are that cheap that if I have issues, $360 will get me new ones. But I doubt I will have to use that money, when a quick upping of fuel pressure will sort it out anyway. 42psi stock plus an extra 15% of fuel pressure (48.3psi) gets you to the equivalent of 1000cc injectors. 95% injector duty cycle is easy to get when you can fiddle fuel pressure. The idle will be as good as it will get if the full LOAD duty cycle is 95%.
true about being a cheap to upgrade the injectors if needed. and yes can always turn up fuel pressure on 870's. I still have the option to decide whether to get either 870's or 1000's in the next 2 weeks
The issue is you CAN make the 870's work with higher flow really well. BUT if you need to reduce the fuel pressure with 1000's to get max of 95 duty cycle the fuel wont atomize properly and you will get idle issues. Its win win with 870's but not so for 1000's You have to find the injector that is closest to your needs at max load. having an injector run at 70% duty at MAX load isnt a good thing and that CAN bugger your idle up.
Hey black beast maybe you should just ask ben the guy who will be actually tuning your car? 95% duty cycle is questionable
I did about the 1000cc injectors .. said idle might be ok... although 870cc should get my target figure. just double checking with other peoples experience if I reach 95% duty cycle at max power that is fine .. its just a dyno figure and in real world it will/can only be used at a 1/4 run.
It was Chris typing one of the mechs here. I should have known better, lol. Either would be fine I think.
very close. i've read that many tuners dont recommend going over 80-85%. but then again, im not a professional. dyno tunes are are done in a controlled environtment. getting a dyno tune at 95% duty then doing 1/4 drags on a hot day may get you in serious trouble. but im sure guys with enough mods to need 870cc+ injectors know what they're doing to protect their beloved
