Can someone recommended a z workshop in Melbourne

Hi my car need some head work running low comp on 1 bank of cylinders when it is compression tested cold.Smells of fuel when i start it can someone put my in the right direction?

I did he quoted me 8000 dollars to do heads isnt that just a bit too much?Do u know a z shop in bulleen?

 

Damn 8g's to do heads, is that how much it usually costs? May as well get about 5
VG engines for that price lol Besides Dontex I only know of Z Shop at Glen Iris.

Hey mate, i'm currently getting my heads replaced at The Z Shed in Geelong I can garuantee you it's not going to cost anywhere near 8K that is just crazy.. send 'brytech' a message on the forum he should be able to give you an idea of the cost..might be worth a bit of travel to save a bit of $$

keep in mind its an engine out job, and dontex charges $88 per hour.... did Joe say he was doing anything else??

 

I strongly recommend this if you like clamps left off your oil and water lines behind your motor and around your turbos... Oh and not to mention the ripper deals, like $2700 for a plenum pull without consulting you when he's going over what was quoted (around $1500)...

my response may be deemed biased by some but I strongly recommend speaking with bry, he's just finished doing a total rebuild inc. respray and manual to auto transmission conversion for me.

 

Not an engine out job, deffinately easier but not neccessary.

 

Haha maybe the clamps were apart of the unessecary items for weight removal

 

mmm they have been over quoting lately.
5k for a rebuild says "littlemiss300" recently. i dunno...

they were always great to me, except when they butchered my brand new injector connectors. will be trying brian next time.

How much did the auto to manual conversion cost if you don't mind me asking (you can PM if you want)? Also what are the contact details for bry?

 

Bry's user name is brytech & he has all his contact details in his sig. Meg's also his partner (wife?) so I'd say she gets 'mate rates'!
Have only meet Bry & Meg once on the last gor cruise but seemed like really nice people.

Personally I've used Joe (at Dontex & his last one in Montrose) & found the service great. Also used Z Shop in Glen Iris for many years while going to uni round the corner & again despite some peoples opinions found them fantastic. Would happily recommend either of them.

Fark! $8k! For that I'd send it up to Eric here in brissy, you'd get a complete engine rebuild with rebuilt turbo's and some extra toys for that price!

 

Joe and Warren at Dontex in Vermont are awesome......you might think they are expensive, but in the end you get what you pay for. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
