Does anyone know of a quick way to replace the turbo cooling hose on the passenger (left) side of a Z32? I can get my hand to it from under, but no room for tools, leverage etc to remove clamps and hose (and therefore to replace)...

I see... what you are saying is that its easier to replace with a long piece of hose as it allows you to manoeuver the pipe into position.... guess that would beat doing a plenum pull....

Do the plenum pull anyway... If one hose has gone the others will not be far behind it...

YEs i agree... but will have to do that when time can afford it (before summer sets in).. at the moment my landcruiser has been written off, and my wifes Freelander has spat the dummy.. so we are carless....

That brief write up linked before was for the hose that runs down to the turbo behind the block, which isn't solved by pulling the plenum.

The under plenum cooland hose bypass can be done without removing the plenum. All hoses can be bypassed neatly without doing a full pull. Just run a few feed of heater hose around the outside underneath of the plenum from the upper turbo coolant pipe by the passenger TB round to the nipple behind the plenum. 15min job with the right tools. Then do the same on the drivers side.

BTW, when I say "right tools" I mean 12" pliers in a straight, 45deg and 90deg angle. Also a bit of vasaline to lub up the inside ends of the hoses.

Pulling the plenum for the first time and fixing everything you break in the process is a full days job, this will take you an hour tops after you read up on all the under plenum bypass articles to work out exactly what nipples your attaching hose to!!

yup.. got the 30cm straight, 45deg and 90deg pliers... removed the old hose by cutting with blade (managed to get hand around from under and over).. now in process of getting new hose back on.. was thinking of using KY gel as its water based to get the hose back on.. vaseline is petroleum based and will affect (soften) the rubber... will be a slow process getting the clamps back on.. using trans hose clamps...

I used water based detergent, but had to do a flush afterwards...gave myself a bit of a heart attack with bubbles in the system.

KY worked a treat... good ol' trusty KY coming to the rescue again. Job done.
