Now, since i'm getting a lot of parts/labour etc done for mates rates i was looking into getting a nice little NA built to tide me over for another year and a half. My 200k service is not too far off and since im getting it done for not much more then parts cost i have a few things to go on with it. Now my mate is an engine builder and has given me a quote of $2200 for all of the below INCLUDING major service done. Cylinder heads will be ported Compression will be raised to 11:1 Plenum will be ported for 55mm SR20 Throttles Extractors Exhaust side camgears Car Currently has: 2.5" Custom Catback Exhausts 2.5" Custom Front Pipes Highflow Cats K&N Pod Filter UAS Hardpipes NIStune - stock map UDP and is making 131.4rwkw untuned, any bets on what the final number will be? NIStune will be tuned by unigroup engineering.
DO IT!!!!!! hehe everyone bags out NA's but most dont understand that being on our P's thats all we can have plus its a quick P plater car anyway Do it dude Cheers Longy
Cheers, was also looking into water/meth injection but i'm still trying to see if the benefits outweigh the cost on an NA. Such a shame that E85 is only available at one pump in sydney which is too far from me to be any use. My goal is to get it to stock TT level, or close enough....however i doubt it will be able to make those types on numbers on the dyno/drag strip.
Do eet! That's not much more than a full 100k service + pp price from a workshop... I love the sound of screaming NAs
Same nothing better then an awesome NA making mass power also make sure you build it to be really responsive, NA motors that rev high and are responsive are all fark are SICK.... Cheers Longy
S2 adjustable gears will be going on with stock s2 cams. I thought about bigger cams but thats about as far as i get until i realise that they would add another 1-2 thousand to the price. Will be keeping standard injectors but will be getting them cleaned and flow tested to see if they are up to the task after 20 years. My aim is to retain VCT and keep the car streetable, a wolf in sheeps clothing so to say.
get your stock cams reground up to 262/8.9. makes sense to upgrade cams if you are porting heads. shouldn't cost more than $400
262*/8.9 sounds good, aslong as its not lumpy so i don't have any trouble with the po po. With cams added to the package i'd think it would be close enough to stock TT level, which is enough to scare even some modified turbo cars :br:
Maybe you could consider going higher than 11:1 with compression if your car will be on a strict diet of 98 octane. A good friend of mine up here in central Queensland has been running 12:1 in his NA for 5 years now with no dramas but he does add a bottle of octane booster when the ambient temps are over 40 deg C. The car is his daily. Cheers
I'll be putting up a build thread when this all happens in another 10,000k's. The only parts i will stuggle to find are extractors, what modification is needed for a LHD set to fit RHD?
