Hey guys & girls, DEVIL ZX is slowly building up a collection of parts which'll soon be bolted onto the car and then chaos and a tune will follow. We've been looking into different rails and injector setups and want to give the Matt Z Garage's topfed fuel rails a shot, now this begs the question, I know its been asked millions of times before, but is having a 1000cc injectors overkill? To my knowledge, heavier CC injectors means they squirt more fuel into the engine, obviously the more air you can get into the engine, the more fuel you can oxidize and the more power you can generate, correct? If this is the case, having a larger drain (not neccesarily a larger air intake seeing how the car will only take as much as it needs), being sucked through the engine faster, will cause more fuel to oxidize, so higher boost means higher power due to more air being sucked through? Heres a quick rundown of what we have/going to put in the car : Turbos : Garrett GT28Rs, no explanation needed. Air Intake : Selin Dual MAF kit + 2 huge JWT pod filters. Intercooler : Border huge ass intercooler, its huge and massive and weighs more then me, bought it off of Lumpy a little while ago, not too familiar with its dimensions, but cost an arm and a leg. ECU : Nistune, again, no explanation needed. Exhaust : Apexi Supermegaphone (twin 2.5, came with car) Controller : Greddy Pro-fec SpecB II The car on stock boost puts down 283HP, timing is off/injectors being sh!t. Once we get all the parts installed and tuned, then the numbers will follow, aiming to run the Lo channel on 10PSI and the Hi channel on 16PSI until we can do some internal mods/motor recondition. So this begs the question, I see alot of people favouring 555s or even 750s, so without there being any major price difference with the sizing of Matt Z Garage's injector kits, is getting the Daddy-O injectors worth it in the long run? or is the squirt power/percentage too much for the 28s to handle? If it was me I would go 850's. That will be big enough for what you are doing even if you want to run E85. There can be some low RPM issues with such large injectors.
28R's or RS's won't push enough air to come close to utilising 1000cc injectors unless your running Ethanol, 1000cc injectors will allow you to put down around 800-900rwhp at a safe level with petrol, 700-800rwhp with E85. With power levels like that new injectors are the least of your expenses. I would go 750's, easier to tune for low rpm drivability and idle. Plus plenty of power potential.
Get mattz topfeed kit choose the 755cc or 870cc if you are worried about idle I'll will be running his rails with Injector Dynamics 1000cc .Idle wont be a problem with these. This data will insure that all the compensations in your ECU work properly, and your air fuel ratios will remain consistent as atmospheric or voltage conditions change. Injector Dynamics injectors: have superior atomisation and spray pattern to most injectors on the market have superior linear control even down to 2ms on the 2000cc injectors are capable of running at 90% duty cycle at 9000rpm will comfortably run up to 9 bar
Yeah man, will definitely be getting the Matt Z kit, as far as the injectors, Im not overly concerned with idle, more so about what'd be the best for the 28s at this stage in its life without making the engine going KABOOM BABY under pressure........but I understand how the larger injectors would cause a bit of a choke, I think we'll go the 8xx's and if I need to in the future, grab those Dynamics as they sound pretty intense. What sort of boost levels are you looking to run with those 1000's, BLACK BEAST?
I need to do some more research on wastegates to know what their proper function is. If the turbos dont have internal wastegates, thats where externals come into place? Do the 28s or the VG series come with some sort of wastegate? If Blowoffs/Recircs dispose of the excess pressure, do waste gates regulate that pressure? Im a little lost. If I was say, running 16-20 pounds, what sort of spring pressure/size/resistance would I be expecting to use to handle that sort of pressure? That may be another aspect that Ive overlooked with the new build.
from: How turbochargers work back on the injector topic, i doubt t28s flow enough to utilise 1000cc injectors unless youre running alternative fuels as mentioned above. go with the smaller 7xx's. easier, cheaper, and just as effective.
going to run E85 1000 cc will handle 600rwhp .. wont get much more power out of GT28RS boost depends on engine could be 20 -25psi
