i know this may sound silly but im a little paranoid about the zed,i am leaving aus for a month, is it alright if i just disconnect the battery and leave it, cuz i cannot find anyone who would be able to start it up regularly. any information would be appreciated.
If you have somewhere to leave it hook it up to a maintenance charger. If you use the right kind of charger you can leave it connected for the month (while the battery is in the car) with no risk of overcharging and it will be fine when you return. To answer your question yes you can disconnect the battery, just remove the negative terminal. Provided it is in OK condition to begin with I would think it will last the month. If you want to pull it our of the car leave it on a piece of timber rather than on a concrete floor. Hope that helps
You can also buy a charger from a company called Ctek. Repco sell them. They are a little pricie but they work a treat. They are a trickle charger but they stop when fully charged. I have one for a car I only drive occasionally and it's excellent! Cheers Glen
No problems with leaving it for a month whatsoever!! As long as your battery is good to begin with, if you just disconnect it, upon your return it'll start right back up. We have one at home in the states that we only drive one month out of the year at the moment and he never fails......when we get back, he starts right up......may run a little rough in the beginning after sitting for 11 months, but smooths right out within a few minutes. We just disconnect the negative terminal when we leave. have a fun and safe trip!!!
Ive got a big ctek charger in the boot along with the battery. I leave the car plugged into the wall whenever i leave the car for more than a week or so. If its only a month just unplug it and she`ll be right.
some good advice there especially the living it on concrete part done that before it stuffs the battery for some reason?
