Just finished replacing all the lifters in my tt, got it all back together, started it up and I get a popping on cylinder 3, sounds a bit like a miss, I have changed the plug and all leads and its still there, funny thing is it goes away after a couple of mins of idle and is not there when the engine is warm. When I started it up this morning it was there again. So I am wondering if a lighter oil might fix the problem, maybe there is a weaker spring on that cylinder and the new lifter isn't draining... any help would be great....
Lifters are not supposed to drain, that may be your issue. some crap under ther ball valve will cause this
I guess thats possible, I did make sure everything was spotless, dropped the oil before I started. the motor was fully rebuilt last year and I have only done about 2000klms, I changed the oil after 500 and it was spotless, as it was last week when I dropped it. If it was a bit of c under the ball valve why would it go away after a couple of mins and be back when the donk is cold
