The other day I went to reverse out and found two of the three small bolts that hold the shifter in place missing and the shifter itself really loose. I have no idea how it happened, but does anyone know where I could purchase such small bolts? They came with the shifter obviously back from the group buy on here, shipped from Japan, and it was my understanding at the time they were the last in stock.
they are called grub screws, take the shifter into a fastener store like coventry's and they should be able to sort you out
if its just a grub screw. go into bunnings or any shop with a champion stand and look for the assorted grub screw pack.
Ah yea whatever it was called, grub screws are exactly what it needs tho so thanks guys. I cant go back to stock I lost all the springs and junk out of the stock shifter. I really like the levoc, but no idea where the screws went.
On the note of going back to the factory shifter- If your shifter is perished, get the auto shifter out of a later model Maxima (about $10 from a wreckers). O/D button, shift button and mounting screw hole positions are the same. Even loom lengths, plugs and illumination is identical. Shifter column however is a bit longer. Is about a 10min job, needing some electrical tape, a stanley knife, side cutters, soldering iron and a hacksaw blade to modify to fit. 1. measure from original shifter lower mounting screw hole to base of shifter column (approximately 76mm) 2. On replacement shifter, mark same measurement, wrap tape around at this measurement, so lower point of tape is at 76mm. 3. Using stanley knife, cut leather/vinyl surround off of replacement shifter, using lower edge of electrical tape as a cutting guide. This will expose the white PVC column. 4. Using hacksaw blade, and again using lower edge of tape as a cutting guide, cut down white PVC shifter shaft. Take caution when cutting rear edge, there are 2x copper wires that run down that face for the O/D button. 5. Using soldering iron, remove O/D wires that are soldered to above mentioned copper wires. They will be sleeves, fixed to the wire with a tab of solder. 6. Cut back the copper O/D wires to approximately 10mm below your cut-off point. 7. Re-solder your O/D wires to copper wires. 8. Compare to your original shifter. Fit and spend the money you saved trying to source a perfect condition Z32 auto shifter on Rum and Colas
