Spot on, molding is probably the only real way to get away with it.

Using acrylic can work, providing you have the original product to imprint into the sheet. Or in reverse. Lay the sheet over the original and let gravity draw the shape in the sheet. Then trim it up, round the edges and devise a way to attach it. Paint as required.

Note that there is also smoked acrylic sheets that you can use, to give that OEM shade. Then the use of High Output LEDs will shine threw it. Food for thought.

For these sheets, the Brisbane members can get it from Reverse Garbage over near Southbank. They tend to get given off cuts from the manufacturing companies. Very very cheap to buy. Just have to see what they have in stock at the time though.

The initial outlay to make the mold would be a little pricey, but i have contacts that can help out with cheaper manufacturing costs and parts needed.

Providing all goes to plan, it should be at least half the OEM cost. Cant imagine it costing that much.

I thought it was Dave (gonzo) but iirc he was producing FG copies of the stock spoilers.

Anyways, cant get to carried away with it, my house and shed isnt built yet...

Exactly... don't think many who are after these are even aware you make them.

 

Gonzo makes the fibreglass infills without the light... you still need to figure out how to incorporate the 3rd brake light (other than sticking on a tacky one on the window)

 

Thats my current setup.

Mine must have been a gonzo creation... And note, for everyone chasing one. Its a bloody good knock off. Fits perfect and has adequate mounting support.

Well in all fairness, you are copying other peoples products so people were doing the same work you are doing before you did it lol...

Maybe make a website or something, so people don't have to dig through old threads to find your products?

 

Why don't you put a monthly add in the "for sale by business" section like A2Zed does. That why you wont get forgotten. There's always new people coming and going from the forum, this way you'll keep a presence.

And don't sell items the same as other members are making/selling.

So that is why my adds are fading away.

 

You don't need to bump your ads, just update them with a blurb on what is available, prices, lead times, specials etc. That is all I do with mine and that is within the rules.

Make up a nice advert in your signature, make a website, run group buys for products - anything but whinging about your work fading away or whatever...
