    JOSH ...
... the convertible was insured for $21,000 without any problems when first insuring it .... on renewal, they dropped it to $18,000 without any consultation ....

... black bess was insured for $15,000 from purchase ... they dropped that to $12,000 again w/out any consultation ....

NOTE FOR HAMMERHEAD: that is a very naughty dig .... the K-mart lunch box adds a minimum 23.75 killerwasps ...well worth the $4.95 investment ( plus paint, of course) ....

Just got my renewal from LSV for the Zed and the Vette and as usual they dropped the insured value and jacked the premium...
Thought before I go through the usual list of mod's to get insured value up, I called Shannon's...
They saved my $550 per year and have the same insured value's as before...
Will see what they can on on the cx9 when that policy comes in next month...
    Shannons +1 here...

As a former insurance executive (please don't throw stuff!), this concept is widely misunderstood, but the insurance industry doesn't do enough to help clients understand the process.

Simply put, a car worth $50,000 today will eventually be worth $10. All the discussion with the insurer is about each year is how fast the value moves from one value to another.

The insurer makes an estimate of this years value that they are comfortable with, and they make you an offer to re-insure for another year. If you AGREE with their figure the policy is renewed and you are insured for the new agreed value.

It is pure semantics to say they changed the agreed value without asking you. That is not what happened at all. In the offer to renew they are asking you to agree to a revised figure. If you and the insurer can't agree, you are free to go somewhere else, or provide additional proofs to justify a higher value.

All general insurance contracts are for one year at a time. Each year is a new contract negotiated from a blank sheet. You have no right to renew, and the risk is re-evaluated and re-priced every year.

When someone says they have been insured with (say) GIO for 10 years, what that exactly means is they have had 10 one year policies in a row.

Life insurance is very different; it is a long term contract and the insurer cannot refuse to renew, and cannot change your premium (except in certain circumstances that are out of scope here).

You are all also aware that all insurance companies troll forums lol... i know several claims that have been rejected as they told the insurance company one story, then came on their forum and bragged about how they spun out and crash when doing something illegal.

Just food for thought when bagging out insurance companies lol

Nah all she said was that her partner had a green zed..she didn?t say he was from WA...I was initially thinking of someone that had a lime green zed..

Nothing has changed since last year, so all my mods are the same...I guess I should send them my word doc on all the stuff that has been done to my zed along with some photos...

Umm..well I figured if I bought another zed for around 10k and tried to make it close to my zed..I wouldn't get anywhere near it (which is obvious). 10k zed + 3k Stillen kit + 3k Respray = 16k already...and its not even gonna be close to my zed...I know you never get back what you spend on a car..but I figured for 18k, I could get a zed that I would be reasonably happy with..

    $1128.12 plus $500 since I'm under 25

Wait till next year :p...I was happy with them when I first went with them and gradually over the past 6 years I get more and more annoyed..

Renee, im insured with Shannons too.
When i set up my premium over the phone, the most they offered me was $10,000 value for a premium of $1,200.
So i went down there, and showed them the car in person. After inspecting the car (walked around, stuck his head inside) the bloke went in, and after 2 minutes came back out offering me $18,000 for $1,500.
    I replied, $20,000.... done deal.

So im currently insured for $20,000 @ $1,500.
No anticipating a drop in value, i have prepared a few things to bump it back up again like mods that i didnt quote before, or extras i've "done" recently.
We can also argue that the value of the Z32 is on the rise?
An insurance company would like to keep a client with a good history, so i guesse what im trying to say is... dont be scared to haggle and threaten to leave.

My ute is covered for 25k with everything listed on it, about half a page of midifications. They're words to me if I want to up the agreed value they will need a visual inspection and receipts of parts (as Ive done work myself) to show value in the modifications.

Ive never had an issue with them at all, and are always happy to add on whatever I request.

    Must be a zed thing

... do not bank on Shannon's wanting to retain you as a client ......

.. i had been running two vehicles with them, claim free, for over 5 years .... they would not negotiate and they could not have cared less about my history with them ...

.. the emails I received were straight outright rude .. and the bottom line was take it or leave, we don't give a damn ....

    grumpy old man much?

of course they want to retain you as a client, why wouldn't they?

There is only so much they can do. from what im aware of your zed doesn't have a huge list of mods on it, nor a kit or big expensive rims (could be wrong but just from what i have seen) its relitively stock.

Stock value of a zed is 9k, why should you keep yours insured for 18k or even 15k? you could go out with 18k and buy 2 zeds... but then you would say they would be shit zeds... need to spend a good 10-12 to get one in decent nick... jaybos mint TT zed with lots of mods wouldnt even sell for 12 so how could you expect to keep your stock zed insure for 15-18?

Your arguement is long term commitment to their company and thus you should get something back yes? Wouldn't you want lower premiums?

My question is... have you got a higher agreed value for the same or less premium from another insurance company?

All those people bitching about not getting what they want, you are aware that there are other insurance companies out there...

    Remember the saying..

"If you can find a better deal, take it...... If you can't, then shut the fk up"

    mate,your targa is an n/a auto,its worth 9k on a good day
I have no idea where you get this 15k dream from ??
The convertible i have no idea as nobody wants them,18k ,i hardly think so
I suggest you take what they offered you and shut up,as you may not like what the others say lol
Your wild car valuations make renzeds car worth 30k easy

lol, josh ... how little you know ...... !!!!

i offered to show them both zeds and to go over each for condition and mods ... they stated that they were not interested in viewing either vehicle ...!!!

one simple example ... upgraded from stocks to a top range of VOLK wheels on black bess .. and the Shannon's response was ... that is just a change from one set of wheels to another set of wheels and does not count ..!!!! .. and there are significant other mods to Bess that i do not blab about ....

re the convertible ... how do they justify a reduction from $21,000 to $18,000 when few sales occur and at the time, 3 very similar, stock standard convertibles were advertised on Car Sales for $23,000 .. this was pointed out to them .. and the response ...??? .. ".. we do not take adverts into account when establishing values ... WTF ...!!!

.. and if you wish to retain a long term, dual car client with a 25 year accident free record, you normally retain some form of civility in discussion and correspondence .. not resort to plain rudeness ....

.. and to finish ... nothing grumpy nor old in my approach ... so might i suggest that you go back to counting Quokkas or whatever it is that does it for you ...

well im just going off my in depth knowledge of the wa insurance team. if you want i can give you a direct number to people who i know wont screw you around and you can see the best price shannons will give you.. if you dont like what these people tell you then move on, simple as that

any you still havent answered.... if you dont like what you are getting now have you called other companies? what do they offer?

if you dont like it why hang around?
