Anyone who was at Zed Fest will remember Dead Zed arriving on a float after yet another breakdown. The Zed gurus found a loose and dirty connection that has been plaguing this car since we rebuilt the Engine and reregisted it last November. since Easter it has been on the Float twice, both times with unrelated issues, the latest this Week being a faulty FPCU unit which we found and bypassed tonight. So its going again. How long? It seems to go about 5-6 weeks between breakdowns. This Car has somehow done 150,000 kms in its life. Since Ive had it its done 4,100 kms and been towed home 7 times! is that a Record????

I'm proud to say, in only 16 months of ownership, I've never had a breakdown in the Z. Sure things have needed major repairs, but it has never left me stranded or inconvenienced :) :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:

i hav never been left stranded except when i crashed. but i hav lost my clutch twice once from master cylender and another to f'ed clutch. but was still able to limp in 1st and get going with the help of the starter motor. so didnt really leave me stranded.

Me too. I made it all 4 wheels onto my driveway just as my gearbox died in a cloud of smoke.

Each time it stops we fix that item properly, But its always something else that fails. I think Ded Zed may have had a few unkind Owners before me. The last told me how he used to do Donuts in a Paddock to show off to his Mates!!! When we rebuilt the Motor we found Rocks and Grass in everything.

I've owned my Z 2 months and it's broken down 5 times. Top that.

    Kanzen MUDA DA!

DEVIL ZX has been riddled with breakdowns/tows required...lets see....

#1 : Tailshaft blew up, diff inspected, tailshaft replaced, hicas removed, replaced with driftworx hicas bars, transmission inspected. Towed from home to PZP

#2 : Radiator blew up, replaced with CZP Radiator & brackets, BOV leaking, replaced with PZP brand piping. Towed from home to PZP

#3 : Plenum piping blew up, "PLENUM PULL" done on the car, intercooler inspected. Towed from friends place to home. Towed from home

#4 : Both rear tyres blew up, all tyres replaced with alternative rims. Towed to Tyrepower

So, towed 5 times, car has spent more time @ PZP then it has in our Garage! Car is pretty tight at the moment, lets hope it stays that way. Its done around...140,000ks, of those we've done about 4000-5000. Guy who owned it before us must of thrashed it, poor girl.

I've had mine for a month and a half and broke down for the first time the other day, pulled onto road, heard a big bang, and now the powers getting through the gearbox but not to the wheels, had to get it towed home. should be fixed soon then hopefully itl be the last breakdown ever... Lol

I bought mine crashed in the front.

    1. towed it home from previous owner
    2. towed to mates factory for front end adjustment using oxy and overhead ganrty crane
    3. towed back home and remove engine
    4. towed to my previous workshop for work
    5. towed to my uncle's house for storage while moving workshop
    6. towed home and pushed into the corner
    7. towed to my new workshop and work has finally commenced again

I have driven the car at most 50 km in 2 years, not one of those times was as a comlete car.

Just incase your wondering, my uncle has a tow truck company so dragging it around is usually free and no big hassle.

Living in the UK, imported a Zed, 89TT Auto, didn't know a single thing about them.

Drove it absolutely everywhere - John O'Groats to Lands End and places in between. Virtually every weekend I would choose a new place to go. Did a bit more than 20,000 km over there. Never did any more than petrol in one end, coolant in the other. Never missed a beat. Zero garage bills. Went beautifully. Still have it.

It was only when I joined this Forum after I returned to Oz that I learned that Zeds can be truly scary.
