I found a quick release 3 pin connector at Jaycar which fits the TPS.
Packaged as Quikcrimp. Part No. CMP-BRP3, Jaycar's price is approx. $25.00

Also available from Alanco in WA under the same part No. for $19.60 plus postage of $6.00
Here's a link to this connector on Alanco's website -

    http://www.alanco.com.au/view/page/2/item/CMP-BRP3.html

The locating grooves match up with the original connector,
no need to shave the lugs off the TPS plug.

Quick release wasn't totally necessary but BRAND NEW was pretty attractive.
Especially in light of this -

While I was cutting the brittle remains of the rubber boot from the old plug, 2 of
the wires broke off. No wonder I was getting intermittent readings from the TPS.
2 of the 3 wires were just hanging on by a couple of rusty strands.
The 3rd wire broke off with a little effort. I cut away the sheathing
and slipped the rubber boot on then got busy with the crimper & soldering iron.
No need to splice in extra wire, you only lose approx. 6 mm off the length.

    The finished result.

    Why would you bother ?
    A. The original connector was NFG, it had to be replaced anyway.

    B. Because of my electrical background ( non automotive ) I understand the need for checking
and cleaning connectors as part of a preventative maintenance program.
DC connections are notorious for corroding in the presence of moisture so quick release is good
    for a quick inspection.

    C. I'm discovering that many jobs on our engines begin by disconnecting the EFI wiring loom and pulling it
out of the way to give us access to other parts, so again quick release connectors help.

If anyone finds this useful then please do me a favour -
Help me track down some dark grey PVC tape. The tape that Nissan's supplier uses
on the OEM looms looks kinda classy, as tapes go.
All I could find in AUS was the light grey Nitto tape. It looks more ghey than grey.

    Cheers from Mick.

Im looking to change out my plugs for quick release in the near future. The longest part of a plenum pull is dicking around with the fuel injector plugs, so getting this sorted will be awesome.

Good find on the TPS plug. Is there any other device plug that us the same layout to the TPS?

    Hey Mick,

Does the grey Nitto PVC tape you're using have a name/number e.g "nitto 257" etc? I'm pretty sure at my local jaycar they have heaps of different tapes with different numbers. I've never been successful in picking the right one though! haha

    Cheers
    Greg.

Inside the roll's cardboard former it says -

NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE
NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE

And then, just in case we weren't sure what it is there's -

NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE
NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE NITTO TAPE

I agree with your line of thought, there should be a catalogue
number or item code on the stuff but there aint.
Even the invoice tells you diddly squat, except NITTO TAPE - GREY

Thanks for getting on the case for me.

    So close yet so far...

My Greek Mythology is a bit sketchy because it came from the backs of Cornflakes
boxes during the 1960's but who is this Oeipidus of which you speak ?
Is he related to Oedipus, the most famous MoFo of all time ?
According to mythology Oedipus really did Fo his Mo, dirty bugger

I think the bloke who got famous for spilling his seed was Onan, but that info
was gleaned ( notice that I refrained from saying CAME ) from a Weeties packet
so it's not from a reliable source. :D

Not in my engine bay, 1989 TT auto. Dunno about the rest of the car yet, I'm still mucking around in the engine bay.

I did that to my stock injectors while I had the engine apart.
To make the connectors fit I ground some chamfers & a groove into the injector caps -

    BEFORE
    [IMG]

AFTER. Note the horizontal groove above the void.

Then the quick release connectors fit on without fouling or jamming in place.

Releasing these connectors with the plenum in place is a breeze.

    Hey guys,

This could be a classic dig but just wanna have a follow-up question regarding the TPS wiring. Mickw's photo below shows the three wires.

Discovered that mine only got two (white with red stripe and green with red stripe). It seems it lacks the white with black stripe. Tried to trace from the root but i can only go as far as up to the intersection with the other wires of the loom.

Is this normal (doesn't seem like!)? What is that wire for? ground? What effect would it have to the tps? Mine seems to be okay and staying at 0.45. idleing at 700-900rpm when engine's warmed up...

rebuild your loom with Bosch plugs

Nice work verifying this plug is compatible, You'll find this is available from the bosch catalog and is the plug shown below, any auto shop can order this for you.
I get mine from supercrap auto, it seems the bosch catalog has a plug to replace almost every 300zx loom plug it's great.

    I'm using a bosch CAS plug part no: 1 287 013 900

Bosch injector plugs for my IAA, you need to dremmel off the small tab on the plug to make it fit.) part no: 9 122 067 011 also fits series 1 injectors, water temp sensor, and most of the two pin connectors with a little modification.

Now it's verified the Bosch Tps plug works too. part number 1 237 000 039
I'm pretty sure that Air mass sensor plug part no: 1 287 013 004 will fit, though not verified.

Thanks for that! Can someone verify if I can re-route that white-black wire to somewhere else? Like to a ground or something from another connector? Coz I tried tracing it as far as I can but it ends up to that whole cluster of covered wires and I just stopped. Thought of asking here first...

The fact your tps is working with just two wires I would assume it is good and the third wire is redundant and or earth so I would not bother, looking at some internal shots of the tps I'm pretty sure it's an earth look at this video it seems to do nothing

you could always run a ground wire to the block from the plug...
