Another Problem :(

I don't think anyone is saying you're not "allowed" to do anything, you can do what you like, it's your car, what some are saying, including me, is that if you do want to drive it hard and most of us do, the running gear needs to be up to a certain standard, even then there are no guarantees that nothing will fail, it seems to happen time and time again on this forum, someone buys a Z for relatively cheap and not having any real knowledge of the common pitfalls of Z ownership, take it out and flog it, it breaks down then they are usually up for a hefty bill for sorting the problem at best or an engine/gearbox rebuild at worst, unless they fix it themselves. As far as i can see no one is having a go at you so no need to be precious about it, the combined knowledge of the Z on this forum is huge as is the information available about it, so use it your advantage instead of getting offended when people with experience in Z matters offer constructive criticism, albeit with a touch of sarcasm in some instances :D. As usual people jump the gun... his other thread clearly stated he has full intentions of doing a plenum pull and all that  the people on here sometimes. posting in here to say "oh yer, I was going to be a smart ass but didn't". Give people a break. Hes already been on the phone with Rollin and is clearly doing his best to look after his new Z. [TIS]

I felt much the same way when I picked up my zed, admittedly I gave it a bit of a hiding, thinking "its a sports car". Then things started breaking. now im looking at $3000+ for a replacement gearbox and a major service, just to bring it back to 'driveable".

No need to baby it everyday, no need to thrash it everyday either.but youve already said that:)

Don't think you got that quite right. He is not calling Rollin for preventative maintenance, but because the car has already broken down. The post indicated he had troubles on the way home from buying it too. Pretty ordinary result for 5 hrs driving.

When you buy a Zed in 2010, what you are getting is the shell and internal remains of one of the World's great GT cars. What we all do here, with lots of money, lots of time, and lots of swearing, is to try to bring each car back to its former glory, adding personal touches along the way.

Most Zeds are old and tired, but not beyond salvation. Sometimes they are sold to people who, instead of starting the process of restoration, drive them so hard that they end up suitable only for the wreckers yard. It is said by those in the industry that every imported Zed would have had more than 200,000 on the clock when it was sold in Japan (and something like 75,000 on the clock when it arrived here).

I have owned Zeds for more than 10 years, and I didn't even know there was a rev limiter until I joined this Forum. In day to day driving, even very spirited driving, there is no reason to come anywhere near it.

If our friend wants to drive really hard, he should get a fully restored car ($$$$$), or a better choice would be a late model Skyline. Very fast, very strong and 10 or so years younger. Lots of go fast bits out there too, and much easier to work on.

I was trying to help the guy. If I really wanted to be a smart arse, I would simply have pointed out this oxymoron, which speaks for itself:

and then maybe asked "Why did you choose that particular Forum name"?

I will close with a few :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: to save you the trouble.

I wasn't referring directly to you, just the general way people are addressing this situation. In fact I thought what you said made perfect sense. :)

You don't have to replace everything, get it to rollin, and get him to sort it out.

I don't think we need to turn this into another Rhyboy, that is all. The eye rolling was obviously directed at Chilli, who comments just for the sake of it and offers nothing constructive only to run down new members. As a fellow Qld member I'd like to actually see him stick around here rather than leave because of peoples egos.

They weren't said Longy, they were just examples of what a real smart-arse might have said. I thought someone was having a problem telling the difference. Anyway, let's put all that to bed.

I hope you get your problems sorted and join all the rest of us whose cars are getting better all the time, but are never finished. :)

Rhyboy was a bit of a douchebag, actually a lot of a douchbag. IIRC he was banned, he didn't leave of his own choice...

Drifting is fine on the track, it does not belong on the street and I don't care what you say. So many people ruin zeds thinking they are top stuff, put it into a gutter/wall/guard rail and stuff the car or worse, hurt someone else

If you want to drift, go talk to Sticky and head out to the track at Archerfield and QLD Raceway.

Anywho's, hope to see you at the next cruise/tech day :D

Do you really want to start another shit fight, because you're heading in the right direction?

My post(that you find irksome)was me saying I was in agreement with angrybear's comments.(if you didn't find his post to be in poor taste, then how on Earth can you find my agreement to be any different)?:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I don't give a stuff whether that suits you, or not.

BTW, It would serve you better if you did a little bit of background research(of the past 8 years)before you start making uninformed comments about who has,or has not, provided help for fellow members on numerous occasions(just because I don't keep trying to grab kudos, doesn't mean I have not actively donated help whenever possible).
