depends what you blast, no tricks though.

baking soda + cheap sandblasting tool + compressor.
My compressor is only 2hp, can't remember the flow but not great flow so it works well when the tank is full but not when it is filling and close to empty.

it won't remove rust. it works well for aluminium scale though, pipe work in the engine bay and mags:thumbup:

i tried it on a range of things,

including aluminium suspension parts, gearbox bellhousing, and just general dirty bits and made no difference what so ever.

i had my compressor set at 85psi and used the homemade style one.

I get 85 psi and it works fine with the supercheap gun, so maybe your modification is not up to the task.

apart from that i'm out of ideas...

    good luck.

I dare say it's a problem with your gun, I picked up a sandblaster off ebay a while ago cheaply, works well

are you getting a constant fast stream of media?

Im going to try this on the stock wheels soon and see how well they come up. My usual trick is to scrub them with aluminium mag cleaner (acid).

gravity feed, that has to require less psi than the vacuum version, which means more effective time on the trigger, good find:thumbup:

I did a heap of engine parts the other day, if your doing a lot then don't wear a dust mask wear a respirator and goggles. I took way too much into my lungs and felt really tired the rest of the day, makes your eyes red. I was covered in the stuff, went through almost 5kg

    works well though

I've used garnet before...I just collected it by trying to do it in a second bucket and managed to salvage enough to reuse it a couple of times. Then it ended up all over the floor but still, value for money ;)
