Theres been alot of threads lately about exhaust sounds etc and i was wondering what is it exactly that makes the NA exhaust sound different from the TT, also how come people think the NA sounds better?

turbos muffle the exhaust note, so NA's are louder

so by using the exhaust to power the turbo it loses some of its sound energy? hahah

It's a totally different type of sound, you cant really compare the two. An NA is more raspy and growls more, some people like this. But with a turbocharged car that has an upgraded exhaust/turbos etc alot of the time it's the turbos you can hear mostly. I've always said that NA's have the best "exhaust note" but it's just not the same without hearing a turbo spooling up. It's one of those things, once you've heard it/felt it there's no going back! :)

Yeah, cause of the turbos the note is "chopped up more". So it sounds smoother while an NA you can almost hear each compression I guess.

I think the only diff if that the turbo has dump pipes (from the turbo back) and an NA has headers (which connect up to the engine).

Lol, rumble turbos can't emulate? Well, turbos have the old school muscle go fast the NA's can't emulate. My personal preference, but I like have the same sound all the way up the rev range...sounds more tuned, just don't look at my youtube clip, so much smoke high up haha, safe but dirty.

i love the turbo sound, sounds like a turbine jet engine sometimes!!

but i have to admit, the sound of a big old v8 with a big cam hardly idling and burbling away still sounds mean as hell!
when you pull up to a powerfull v8, you know all about it thats for sure!
