QLD Skidpan Session 31/08/08

Due to public demand, I'm organising another skidpan session at Mt Cotton driver training center. Session will be in the afternoon from 12.30pm - 4.30pm. Cost is $120 per driver and there are 10 spots available.

Just to those who noticed that the price is higher than normal. $120 is for a booking of 10. However if we can get 12 people together, which was hard to do last time, the price comes down to $100 a head. If we are able to rally that many together I will refund the $20 to all participants on the day.

So let get together and have another great skidpan session. It is full of spills, some skills and a whole heap of fun. A fantastic was to spend an afternoon and you might learn a thing or to about driving as well.

If you have friends or family who would be interested they are more than to participate. This isn't just for zedders so let everybody know.

im so pissed i cant go. and my brother as well. he's gota work and im broke(tax time). can u give me some details so i can arange the next skidpan session. a couple months after

Most likely wont be having another one this year. This is the only skidpan I'll b holding for the second half of the year. As sticky said we cant have these too often as they aren't cheap. Twice a year is hard enough to get people in as is its is.

The only other event that I will be organizing will be the motokhana which I have postponed to later in the year. Depending on availability its most likely to be held in November.

 

Im interested if you need the numbers, can i bring the Zookie along again?

Surely there are more people interested in doing this than Sticky. Everytime I go to a zed event there are people asking when the next skidpan is. Where are you all now?

I know the event is still a few weeks away but a 50% deposit will need to be put down at the start of August for this to go ahead. I'd like to have more than Stickys payment to put towards it.

If you are interested but will not be able to pay till later in August please let me know so I know that we will be able to make numbers.

Limitations

Just out of curiousity, is this limited to forum members only?

Non forum members are welcome as long as they aren't obvious drifters and they dont have loud arsed exhausts. There is a 92db noise limit that does get measured from about 50m from the pan. Noise hasn't been a problem at previous skidpan sessions for us.

 

I don't understand why you cant drift Your on diesel for crying out loud, you're gonna slide anyway. Fill me in on what its about as I've never been. It's a good thing I fitted Chrispy's exhaust. Its alot quieter than my old system.

 

Why we cant "drift".

Its a technicality.

Mt cotton driver training is a government funded facility. The government does not see "drifting" as a safe sport and the skills involved in doing such are not required on the street.

However

We will not be "drifting" we will be controlling oversteer. (and understeer if you go to fast). Those skills have a place on the street in slippery conditions. Yes, I know there is no difference. The venue has stated that if every corner is continuously linked in a "controlled oversteer" the center will consider it drifting.

But I wouldnt worry about it too much. In my previous 4 experiences at the skidpan I am yet to see someone who can make a full lap sliding without loosing it.
