anyone fitted an rb 30 to a z32? i have one sitting in the engine bay, but need to fabricate engine mounts from the engine block to the original body mount and fabricate a sump pan .i dont want the bonnet modified if posable.

I've seen RB25's and RB26's in Z32s before, but never RB30's. The 30's are a taller block, I know they are a super tight fit in a R33 so I imagine even tighter in a Z!

Wouldn't say impossible, but I expect it will need crossmember work or bonnet work. It's pretty easy to space the crossmember down a bit - I did that with my VH swap.

Sorry to be that guy but why would you swap from a quad cam 3L 6 to a single cam 3L 6?

We can only hope he's putting a 25 head and a GTX45 on it.

I would run a ford 4.0L over an rb anyday of the week.

Put a rb25neo head on it solves that issue that's what my mate has done.

Still no piston oil squirters, so better go E85 just to be safe.

hey now. dont under-estimate the RB30 - even the single cam head is fine for 300rwkw. toss some oversize valves and decent springs in and 400rwkw is just a giant snail away. Unless you want 500+ rwkw the twin-cam head is just a waste of time.

I can see it being a little less effort/maintenance than the VG30... but probably more effort than its worth unless you had a Z32 with a dead engine

it would still cost more than a replacment engine is worth, not to mention the logistics of getting it engineered, its an older engine than the VG and chances are it would never make the emissions requirements of the newer chassis.
