So I think its about time I made my own project thread... so here we go..

Plan was to rip my engine out and put a new one in that had good solid compression all round, 100k service, and was just well looked after.

    During this I was to:
Paint the engine bay to match the car,
    Repair the radiator cross-member,
Polish all that was holy in on and in the engine bay,
Relocate as much in the bay as possible,
    Manual conversion,
Smooth out all join lines in the engine bay,
    New Bonnet,
    New front bar,
    New fenders,
And other stuff I can't really remember,

    Now.. where to start... hmmm

Ok.. the damage, if you don't remember... don't ask me how I did it but I did....

I then chopped the whole member off and replaced it.. well, thats this weekends task.

    The bonnet:
Started life out as a Ford Boss bonnet... yeah yeah shut up I like it lol.. It won't end life as one though...

    The Front bar:
Started life as 3 different front bars thanks to Zweett, Jaybo and Mentori

Shall be interesting when its done... you will see ;)

    Relocation:
    Everything pretty much.

Besides the radiator and PS ressi nothing else is going back in.. this is how empty it will be. All the mounts and brackets have been removed and smoothed over.. if there was a bolt hole that is now unused it has been filled.

    Batt tray gone
    [IMG]

    Even relocated the horns lol
    [IMG]

    Engine relocated to dining room
    [IMG]

Bit hard to see but on the right is the cabling for the fuse box that will sit just under the nose for easy access... only needed to extend 2 wires to relocated it ;)

    Engine:

Everything blinged... custom piping suited for a future project in montion. alot of usual upgrades UDP, lighten flywheel, POP and so forth, usual mods.

Painted block black just so its all an even clean colour.

Not really sure what else to post atm... Expect the engine back in in 2-3 weeks.. car finished fully, painted and cruising around in 2 months... so stay tuned as I update it here

Red UDP needs to go, the anodized silver would suit better... other than that looks mint (pun intended). :zlove:

I wanna keep it red... red calipers and a few more touches of red just to break up the green...

I like the bonnet, nice and subtle but subtly mean looking too.

I kind of agree on the red UDP, the red and green looks a bit christmas tree-ish.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the bonnet completed - it has the potential to look amazing. Good luck with the project.

    looking good josh, looking good....

love the bonnet blge, very cool....

the chroming also looks very nice, will be good to see the bay finished up and shining away!

who made the custom piping, you?
im sure your aware, but just incase you arent, you need to make sure that you have a lip or some tags on the end of each pipe where the silicon will be clamped so it doesnt get blown off under pressure:D

and if i were you id look around for some green silicon, that would be nice aswell....

NICEEEE very interested to see how the bonnet turns out on the zed.

ive been looking at doing this myself for a while now. it has been done on various other imports already and ive wondered how it will turn out on a zed...

this is a skyline with it. cant really see it all that much from the angle though

the one ive been thinking about doing will have vents in it though. i cant find a pic but one at the front and one at the rear of the bonnet. ive seen it done of the bonnets on the fords and they look great. look forward to seeing yours finished ;);)
