as the old one is dead and I have a new one. I can't get the old cable out so I need to make another one with two wires.

Does the white "a" wire go to the "a" plug on the detonation sensor and the black "b" wire splice into the white "a" wire? As I have read on previous posts, this is the case. Can anyone please clarify so I don't blow up the new knock sensor?

White wire is signal wire to ECU. Det sensor earths via bolt to engine.

Do nothing, nil, zilch. It connects to the coaxial shielding.

    So to clarify...

I have made a wire from the white "a" at the plug to "a" at the knock sensor and I don't do anything with the black "b" wire from the plug? Just leave it unconnected?

So what does NISSAN do with the black (earth) wire from the plug to the knock sensor?

I have earthed the knock sensor (placed it on the plenum) and used a multimeter from the wire I made to earth and it says 550 ohms (or around there).

    This is ok then?

    Thanks.

    All good!

Everything worked out perfectly. I guess it being relocated is better than nothing...just until I change my clutch, remove the EGR and try to put the knock sensor in its factory location.

    Thread revival time.
Just looking for clarification for the size of the Knock sensor relocation bolt.

Based on this the last relocation location option here - http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300...786419/TECH-Detonation-Sensor-Relocation.html the bolt should be M8 x 1.25 x100mm long. If this is correct, what is the minimum amount of threaded portion required?
Roughly guesstimating by the pic in that link, it appears to be approximately 1/4 the length of the entire bolt which would roughly = 25mm. Is that 25mm the minimum threaded portion required? If not, what is the minimum threaded length?
    TIA
    Cheers

Rule of thumb for purchase length is 1.5 x diameter. So in this case 12mm.
