VIC Great Ocean Road 2016

Mark and I have been having a bit of a chat about the Great Ocean Road cruise this year.

Unfortunately the GOR is a bit of a mess at the moment due to the recent heavy rains. Some portions of the GOR have been intermittently closed off this year due to landslides, and other sections are limited to 60kph.

With our cruise currently due to take place in 3 weeks, we're looking for input from those who will be attending as to whether:

a) we cruise as usual on the Nov 27th knowing that we're going to have to take it much easier than in past years and there may be detours on the day.
b) we postpone until Feb / March knowing that the GOR should be in better shape by then but there will likely be lots more traffic
c) cancel this year's cruise entirely

Please post up your thoughts!

 

Im up for either a or b really. After my recent skid off the road at the last cruise i was intending to stay at the back of the pack and just drive leisurely compared to you speed demons. so I don't mind the having to deal with detours on the cruise, I'm more out to meet and talk to everyone on the day, the driving for me is meh, sometimes.

 

Id prefer option B, would prefer to do it properly, but mainly because I've booked something on the 27th not realising it was the standard date.

 

If wanting to still include the great ocean road itself & not do a more inland focused route then think it may be better to post phone a bit. More like March though to minimise the crowd factor

 

Vote for Feb/March.

A simple catch up at Todd Rd United on a Sunday morning might be good though!

Ok folks, looks like we'll postpone until early next year. 2017 - the year of dual GOR cruises!
