Hey Guys,I was thinking of buying an exhaust system for my '92 300zx NA 2+0 im looking for the brand thats gonna give me the most kw,I had my eye on the top secret exhaust and the hks hi power i was wondering if anyone knew how much kw does each exhaust system give. Thanks Joseph
agreed. unlike on some newer cars where often a brand will say "increases power by **kw" , older cars like the zed rarely have such claims attached. suffice to say, any aftermarket exhaust in a appropriate size such as 2.5" will have a positive increase in power, and on a NA is one of the few mods most consider worth doing. adding a set of aftermarket headers and a pod filter will give you the best bang for your buck for a standard NA, and a nistune board with a retune will maximise it possible powerband. other than maintanence, from there you start looking at more expensive mods...........
There's these really cool exhausts that have spinning wheels in them, then you hook the other end of the spinny bit up to your intake. Free power! SRB-2NV tried the fast NA thing, now look at his sig.
You do realise the NA & TT exhausts are the same? The standard TT was advertised as producing 300HP. The NA supposedly produced 222HP. Do you think the exhaust is restrictive on the NA? Are you running in excess of 300HP?
Are you trying to argue that there is no performance gain from adding a aftermarket exhaust? Its one the most basic, and widely proven effective mods for almost any car, including the z32.
Argue? How much horsepower will be gained by changing the exhaust on an NA from the standard configuration, to aftermarket?
An NA thats had an exhaust, headers, intake and tune should do 150rwkw or so.. about 30kw over stock.
The question was: How much horsepower will be gained by changing the exhaust on an NA from the standard configuration, to aftermarket?
When you're looking at something that's already straight piped the gains/flow capacity is very linear but since the stock system is full of mufflers and stuff it's a bit more wobbly. On an NA you'll see nearly the same gains using cheap weld in straight pipes and glass packs to delete the cats and mufflers as you will with a really nice apex-i system but it'd sound like arse and may cause some larger peaks and troughs in the torque curve depending on where the resonances move/develop
