Nice and simple, my diff clunks, its got a bit of free play. What do i need to fix it. Will new bearings fix it or do i need to re shim it? (the bushes are fine)

If the diff has free play, then i doubt that the bushes are fine. They are the ones that hold it true.
Yeah mine does this too, I have all the replacement bushings but CBF Anyone want to replace them for me
define dif clunk? Is that like a loud clunk when reversing in a car park? Coz that's what I get but thought it was coming from the front. Hard to tell from inside the cab, and doesn't do it all the time.
Ive replaced the mounts. Maby its excessive lash in the gearbox and diff gears. when i was turning it by hand it had a few degrees of movement in the tailshaft. There is no longer any stock bushes in my car.
The ring gear to pinion allowable backlash is 0.10 to 0.15mm. But you have to remove the rear cover to do that
coool, its actually more noticeable because the cluck is stiffer with the new mounts, before it was absorbed more. I cant do anything becuase i cut the tendon in my thumb with a tablesaw, looks like im going to have to pay someone gah.
Yuck, that's gotta suck. And remember to remove the rear cover you have to remove the diff from the subframe. Will cost a few bob.
I have a one piece. With the diff problem, trans problem and air leak from the compressor i might have to wait for my thumb to heal so i can do it myself. But thats months away Gz, i thought i was getting on top of things when i got my engine back in. i guess not. This is getting rediculius. I still need a paintjob and if im lucky a bodykit. Oh i also need some interior work, a tune ect. Im looking at another 10-15k of money at least. gggzzzzzzzzz.
Unlike stock bushings, the ES allow the diff to move a bit so it's probably just knocking the bracket up front as it was for me when I had ES in.. you may be able to do a little grinding to fix rather than go back to stock like I did.
