I walked into my local Autobahn to buy some new headlamps for my 89 tt import. After talking me into the most expensive street legal phillips (around $100 i dont recall) he proceeded to tell me they were a straight fit. He couldnt speak a word of Japanese which worried because thats what language the instructions were in.

After refering to the tech I found they wouldn't fit until I altered them, so I searched for some that would fit straight on. There are a few warnings when fitting 100w blubs to whats meant the be the stock 55w - housing getting too hot - blub blown in a matter of hours. This i do admit was with the H3c blubs that had the warning, is this the same case with the normal H3 with a conversion?

Autotechnica sells a pair of 100w H3c as well as 55w (easily found by searching google) alot cheaper than the normal H3 bulbs by phillips. Any recomendations?

Quite a lot of people have run 100W bulbs without any issues. If you need them now I?d buy the cheapies and save up for some HID?s. I have them and there about a bazillion times better than stock :D

I had toruble with 100w lows

Yeah i put narva 100w high beams and they work brillanlty but i also but tehm in the lowbeams and cause there in such a confined space and it over heats, they blew out easily.... so use 55w +50s or HID light conversion

Do a search on Autotechnica and see if you still want to buy them.
