Had a really great time today, thanks to everyone who planned and participated. Ps. Blissfully - I have seen you around! I've seen that signature a bunch of times.
Looks like it was a fantastic day - I'm sure Doug would have been proud of our forum and humbled by the support given to his memory from his friends and fellow 300ZX enthusiasts.

Another Awesome day cruising with the VIC crew and I would like to thank Mark (Jedi-77) for organising the cruise in memory of Doug for us all to remember him and enjoy our cars just like Doug would of wanted us to do. Ok so here is how the day all unfolded; The cruise was to start at the Watsonia Train Station Car park at 9am Sunday morning. When I arrived, Mark was already at the meeting point and soon after I parked my Z next to Mark's it was like a river of Z's showed up and they just keep coming and coming. Robbo's newly painted Z which was one of the crowds favorites on the day. Everyone loved the paint colour on his car and I know Doug would have approved of all the effort Rob has put into his new Z. The row of Z's started to fill up the car park very quickly and the crowd of people attending today grew more and more. RENZED (Renee) showed off your shiny engine bay but she did have some competition and it wasn't from anyone in Victoria. We had a wonderful surprise attendee for the cruise today and it was member gmbrezzo who traveled all the way down from NSW to be here cruising with everyone in remembrance of Doug, which just shows you how much of a great guy Doug was, and he had some many friends from not just Victoria but also from all over Australia. By 9:30am we had reached the peak attendance for the event and I think we counted between 25-28 cars and this number could possibly rival the famous GOR cruise attendance number record. Mark made a short briefing to everyone about the Doug and the planned cruise route and was so prepared he provided maps for everyone attending. We then left Watsonia for Yea and with such a large group of Z's it was a struggle to even get out of the car park:zlove: A couple of shots as we cruised to towards Yea. After some very long drive through some of Victoria's scenic country side we landed in the small town of Yea, where we got to stretch our legs and get some food and drinks for lunch. Again we were able to claim the car park as our own Z haven. A nice shot of Lidz newly painted rear TwinZ bar, Beautiful:zlove: Couldn't help get a nice updated shot of my Z, so proud:zlove: After Lunch, we headed off for some twisty country roads and some spirited driving. Me being the nanny driver I am, I found it hard to keep up with the more adventurous drivers infront of me who were leading the pack, but thankfully my OEM TT adjustable suspension helped me keep a fast pace through the twisties and keep me with the pack. We stopped somewhere in Kinglake to let the the rear pack catch up to the front pack. All the neighbors in the street came out taking photos of all the Z's and that is why I love these cars so much. We continued on our way and after driving through some long country highway roads we finally arrived at the Flying Tarts Bakery for a breather and some snacks and drinks, along with abit of socializing time between the attendees. From there we headed back to Watsonia Train Station and traveled along some of the scariest and narrowest twistie roads I've ever driven on. I was glad when we finally made it back to suburbia and the roads were not so narrow. LOL After arriving back in the Watsonia car park one of the members did a small burnout from what I've heard and then we ended up with 4-5 police cars making an appearance and keeping a watchful eye on us. I didn't get any photos at the end in the car park as I figured there were plenty of cameras around to photograph the scene, which was a complicated mass photoshoot arrangement of all the Z's attending today's event. Really enjoyed the day out with the Z and I hope another Z cruise will be held again soon as I now have a itch to cruise in the Z after such a awesome day.
wow What a send off for Doug - amazing! I'm sure he would of had a smile from ear to ear. Awsome Weather, Awsome Cars, Awsome People, Awsome Roads Had such a great day - thanks to all who attended - great to see old & new faces alike & what a turn out! I counted 23 zeds which rivals some of our turn outs for GOR criuses in the mid-2000's !!
yeah great day had, fantastic turn out for Doug. Very well organised Mark & included some great roads, especially the 'unknown road'. Bring on the next one!
Was such a beautiful day for Dougies 1st memorial run, which I'm sure there will be many more to come..I'm sure Doug would be proud of how many turned out to this event for him Thanks Mark for organising this event, I look forward to this being an annual event..I'd be happy even if we didn't change the route...I think it was great as it was Nice to meet a few new faces and some older ones that I clearly have forgotten ...sorry, I'm bad with remembering peoples names and then there's the forum names too lol. ...and I have to appologise to the 4 zeds stuck behind me going 80km in the 100km zone before the second bakery..Missed the 100km sign ...and then of course there was NO other 100km sign to tell me :rofl::rofl: Had a great day and look forward to the next cruise to come :zlove:
A massive thank you to all who were involved. Once again thanks to everyone who came on Sunday wether you knew my dad or not we all were there for the one reason. The zed. To show how much we all accomplished I asked my mother to come to the first meet point. She was totally lost for words at the number of people there supporting the Zeds, and Dougie or course. . I think now she knows why both my dad and I have kept our cars for so long. Keep on zedding.
